Hi all,

I`m in need of some serious curling iron tips!

I have fairly thick shoulder-length hair which has some natural wave to it. I just got a layered hair cut which requires me to curl the ends (out at the bottom and in around the face).

I`m looking for a quick, simple and *organized* way to curl my hair. Because my hair is so thick, no matter what I do, I always seem to miss pieces of hair. I usually put my hair up in a pony tail on top of my head and just take out the part I am going to curl so that I don`t forget what I`ve done. This method takes FOREVER because for each strand I have to take out the pony tail, pick a piece of hair, put the pony tail back, curl the hair, and repeat!

Please someone tell me there is an easier way?!?!

My hair sounds exactly like yours!!!!!
I had the same troubles, but ya know whats easier.... hot velcro rollers!!!! You just put your hair in a high ponytail, put the rollers in and let `em sit. After about 7-10 minutes take em out, then spray em wit hairspray and let em sit for a minute, then brush your hair out.

McKee-

Do you curl just the ends or all the way up to the roots? Unfortunately, my hair is way too thick to curl up to the roots. Otherwise it will be sticking out so wide I can`t fit it through the door :)

I curl all the way up to the hair elastic that my ponytail is held in with.

Hi

Shelley Pryor taught me this cool trick. I part my hair into 6 equal sections and then use a big claw clip to twist up and clip that section. I then take one of the sections, let it down and then use the curling iron. After I am finished I pin the hot curl to my head with a big hairpin and let it totally cool off. I work on the next section and follow the same steps. I work around my head from front to back and when I am finished with the last section, the first is just starting to completely cool off.

I will often lightly spray my hair with a light mist of shaping spray before I remove the final hairpins.

I let the curls down and use my fingers to carefully arrange the curls in place.

Viola. Organized curls that are easy to manage and track.

You can actually separate your super thick hair into many many little sections, clip them up and then pin the curl like I suggest. At the end you should have a head full of pinned up curls to let down. That should help you get everything.

Hope that helps.

If not, let me know.

Best wishes,
Karen Shelton
