I have some questions about this and am hoping someone out there will be able to help me out. I have hair to my waist and for quite some time I have thought about doing this. I`ve seen a few women who have them and i`m just wondering if they are extensions, their own hair or a combination of both?? I also wonder about care. I`ve heard before that they have to be cut out?! Any info anyone can give me would be MUCH appreciated. Also, if anyone could recommend someone in the DFW area that would do them that would be cool too. Thanx!

Jessie,
When Faith Hill cut her hair short about 3 years or so ago, I read somewhere that she did it because of the damage caused by having her hair cornrow braided while on vacation in the caribbean or somewhere. She thought it would be cool to have it cornrowed while on a tropical vacation, but the combination of sun, saltwater and tightly braided hair for a number of days left it in terrible shape. I have no idea whether that was truly the main reason she cut it off (maybe JF does), but based on reading that about Faith I would not take a chance if I were you. There are other braided styles that don`t have the possibility of causing damage.
