Well, there a couple different "emo hair styles" I guess you could say. If you're looking for something like the picture below, then I can pretty much tell you everything I do to my hair, because that's me. So get back to me and let me know if that's what you're looking for. I can still help you with whatever you're looking for though, since I've been through a couple of different "emo hair styles". I didn't part my hair in the below pic, but I usually do.

Also, im new too these forums so hi.

You have very nice hair but there is no need to be so rude.

There are a broad range of people who use these boards that range from 9 to 90 and come from all over the world who might not understand what 'emo' style is and it would be very polite for you to explain it to them!

I know what sort of things you are into music wise and style wise but i myself do not have a clue what 'emo' means!

Not lecturing you just speaking from a wider point of viewCool

Ah ok i shalll show them.

WHAT EXACTLY IS EMO???
________________________________
Emo is short for "emotional". Emo started off as a genre of music consisting of punk riffs with emotional lyrics. But as time grew, Emo was setting a lifestyle and stereotype around the globe. Now, emo individuals can be seen in various schools and gigs everywhere. *Emo is nothing like goth or punk, because they could not be any different than each other.

WHY DO PEOPLE BECOME EMO???
________________________________
People become emo for different reasons. People who have emotional problems because of parents, school, and whatnot become emo uncontrollably. This means that they're emotions overpower their decisions including on what they eat, do, dress, and hang out with. Another reason people become emo is because they like the trend and fasion. Also, they become emo because they don't think they get noticed enough, so they think turning emo will get them more noticed. Either way, everybody has their reasons.

Now we have a sort of basic idea of the thought of emo. Now let's move on to characteristics.

The Characteristics of Emo/SCENE

HOW TO ACT EMO
________________________________
Acting emo isn't as hard as you think. Here's some guidelines:

1. Being emo means being quiet. No spazzes, show-offs, or big-shots.

2. Be artistic, such as a love for graphics, photography, painting, and other art.

3. Be very nice and very polite. But hate the people who hate you with a passion.

3. Become a vegan or a vegetarian.

4. Get a Myspace, with non-smiling pictures, but somewhat friendly. EXAMPLE: http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...4-6dd5931e2838

5. Talk about music and bands a lot. DON'T talk about sports if you're not athletic.

6. Go to shows and see childish movies for fun with your other emo pals.

7. REMEMBER: You love your friends.

I've seen on many "How To Be Emo" guides, they say cry whenever possible, cry a lot. This is not always the case. You don't have to cry. Enough said.

HOW TO LOOK EMO/SCENE for guys
________________________________
This is the key to all Emo/Scene-ness. If this is not pulled off good and right, you might as well not be Emo.

The Essentials of Guys's Emo Hair:
-Died Black Usually
-Bangs much reach at least till middle part of nose.

HAIR: There are many different styles, but I'm just gonna name a couple.

The All-Straight Look
This look is a very popular Emo look. Here's how-to:

1. Use a lot of conditioner when you shower and little shampoo.
2. Blowdry after shower combing hair throughly
3. Then, use a softening product, such as Optimum Care Featherlight Hairdress
4. Flat-Iron whole head before doing bangs, then do bangs.
5. Gently brush bangs to the side, but leave enough to cover one eye or more.
6. When hair is how you want it, use a flexible gel to hold down hair on top and on bangs.
7. Wahlahh!
  <--------- Poisen the Hat
(I'm sure evryone's seen this pic)

The Back Spike

1. Do everything from the All-Straight Look first
2. Cut hair on the top of the back and gel it up.
3. As simple as that!

ALSO, BLONDE STREAKS in the bangs or on the spikes can look dazzling on the select few emo individuals.

Now, moving on to guy's fasion.

Tops:
-Hardcore or emo band shirts
-Artistic design shirts
-Non preppy vintage shirts
*Tight and short shirts. If you're a small go to youth large, if you're a medium go to small, and so on.

Good Emo Tops Sites for Guys:

http://www.heartcoreclothing.com
http://www.hottopic.com (their band merchandise tees)
http://www.merchline.com/sodiumapparel/
http://www.revoltrevolt.com

Bottoms:
-Tight jeans: "Slim fit"
-Girl pants possibly
-Overall, tight jeans.

Some stores you can find with tight jeans are http://www.luckybrandjeans.com, http://www.levisstore.com, and http://www.hottopic.com. Girl pants are better. so any girl pants are fine.

Shoes
-Macbeth Shoes (http://www.macbethshoes.com)
-Converse
-NO SKATING SHOES

Macbeth Shoes Look Like This

Other Accesories
-Studded belt (should be seen on waist. if whole belt not seen, sag jeans until shown.)

Now it's time to look emo/scene for girls.

HOW TO LOOK EMO/SCENE for girls
________________________________

This is the key to all Emo-ness. If this is not pulled off good and right, you might as well not be Emo.

The Essentials of Girl's Emo Hair:
-Died Black Usually, but doesn't have to
-Short to Short-Medium Hair (up to touching-shoulders-length)

HAIR: Girls emo hair isn't as hard as Guy's emo hair. In fact, girls can do boy emo hairstyles too! Girls hair basically is short and to the side. Here are some pics:

Now, moving on to girl's fashion.

Tops:
-Hardcore or emo band shirts
-Artistic design shirts
-Non preppy vintage shirts
-Funny shirts

Good Emo Tops Sites for Girls:

http://www.merchdirect.com/fullbleed

http://www.hottopic.com (their band merchandise tees)
http://www.merchline.com/sodiumapparel/

Bottoms:
-Jeans. No-Baggy.

Shoes
-Macbeth Shoes (http://www.macbethshoes.com)
-Converse

Basically boys fashion and girl's fashion are the same.

I love the colour of your hair and the style! I've always been tempted by blue or blue-purple hairSmile. At my length and thickness I'd need alot of dye and it would damage too much thoughUnhappy...

ok, this isnt trying to be mean or anything like that buuut...i yer definition of "emo" is off...
real definaition:
In the early 90s there was a movement in the hardcore genre that came to be known as "Emotive Hardcore," spearheaded by Rites Of Spring. Harder-core-than-thou kids, who swore by Dischord Records a la Minor Threat, actually coined the term "Emo" as something of a put-down for the kids who really liked Rites Of Spring, Indian Summer and this new wave of "Emotive" Hardcore bands. That's right, "Emo" was once not something kids called themselves. The field exploded outwards from there - Level-Plane Records has always been the most famous Emo label. Acts like Yaphet Kotto, I Hate Myself, Saetia, Hot Cross, A Day In Black And White, Funeral Diner, I Would Set Myself On Fire For You, You And I, and hosts of others came in the next decade. Most emo bands have since broken up, but there's still the occasional hold-out (again, the majority of Level-Plane Records' roster has been a procession of emo acts). Like most DIY hardcore/punk of the time, a majority found its way onto vinyl and not much else. Some people consider bands like Fugazi, and later Sunny Day Real Estate, a progression of emo, but personally, I don't quite follow that philosophy.

Often, more recently, this gets intertwined with post-hardcore, and understandably so - that's nothing to make an issue of, since well sh*t, at least it's close.
i dont know why people decided that "emo" meant "emotional," which is obviously bullsh*t, as 99% of bands make music to illicit emotion, which would make "emotional" a completely all-encompassing genre from classical to opera to pop to rap.
that was really long, srry.
i dont think im opposed to emo/scene kids, because on the contrary, i love em. also,  i think yer cute...despite the fact that we have different views on what "emo" is.
