Has anyone used this product? I want to try the Lagoon Blue or the Hot Hot Pink but am worried that my dark brown hair will not pick up enough color.

Any thoughts?

since ive had some wacky moments with my hair, i also looked into manic panic. and as with any hair color like that, (it also states this on a lot of manic panic web sites) in order to achieve the actual color, pink, purple, blue, green whatever the color is, you have to bleach out your natural color first. now if you are really set on having pink hair then go for it, but if you like having healthy hair, then avoid it. b/c after you get sick of it, you will then have to bleach your hair again just so you can dye it a normal color again. in other words, unless you plan on having pink hair for awhile, its messy and it will destroy your hair. i like funky hair too and i dont want to turn you away from this, im just stating the facts.

ive had (almost) every color of manic panic in my hair and if you`ve got dark brown hair then only the darker colors will sho up, and even then they wont stay in long and they`ll only kinda hi lite your hair. if you want tha pink (hot hot pink.. i think they discontinued flamingo pink, which was the *best* pink) you`ll definitely have to bleach. if you`ve got strong hair, go for the bleach, then when you want to go back to some state of normalcy, definitely *DONT* bleach it again. just dye over it after most of the pink has faded out, if you dye it a dark brown (yr natural color or darker) or almost black itll cover over any pink just fine, and you arent damaging your hair by bleaching it again :)

thats not right. i had a friend who used manic panic, and she had dark brown hair, and bleached it before she did the green and when she went back to her normal color she dyed it dark brown and it turned out really messed up. it wasnt an ash hair dye either. the green was all most all the way faded, well it was faded, it was looking more yellow, and her hair then ended up orange, green, and brown, with some nasty red highlights all over the place. point case on the instructions on the websites i mentioned it states not to dye your hair back your natura color, that you will either have to wait for all of it to come out or bleach it. when it comes down to the technical side of it, you have to have all the pigment of the dye out of your hair for it to turn out right. thats why i never mess with that stuff, it ruins your hair. it might look cool but the fuss is way more extensive then id go for

My daughter has light brown hair and used manic panic blue (without bleaching out her hair first). It turned her hair gray. I wouldn`t recommend it to anyone unless they bleach it out first!

i speak from experience: i have used many different manic panic colors on my hair and have always had to bleach beforehand. i have had no problem with dying over the color afterwards without bleaching (even though i used black to cover it). but if you do the bleach, weird dye, normal color thing all too frequently, your hair eventually quits holding color all together. i now have to dye it once every couple weeks in order to maintain the normal color of choice for that time because i have screwed it up so badly. i am not disadvising it, by all means have fun, but just be warned of what can happen.

okay, my hair is pillarbox red, but it's just way too hard to maintain. i don't mean the color, i'm talking about the texture. i can't stand it being dry, so i've decided to dye over it with garnier and then put in oil treatments or something. but because manic panic just sits on top of your hair and washes out, i'm afraid that if i dye over it with a normal color, it'll just wash off with the remaining manic panic. what do i do? is it safe to color over the manic panic or not?

You should wait until it all washes out before putting a permanent dye on.
More awesome than a manatee!
