Apparently he has layered hair so he is able to do it, but what does that mean? Like one part is shorter than the other?

so, what should I tell me barber/hair dresser? I have long hair, it's curly same
like his but I don't know how to cut it to have his style. What should
I specifically tell the barber I want?

Your long hair must be very pretty. Why not bring in a photo of his
hair to your hairstylist? I am sure he or she could do that style of
'do for you!

I know it sounds weird....but I would rather not do that. It just seems weird....I know I know I AM the one that seems weird for saying that but I can't help it!
Does anyone here have any suggestions? At the very least, could you tell me if I have to have my hair layered if I want to achieve the hair style in the pictures?
