Hey everyone Im a newbie on here but I've been thinking about doing hair at home. I know i can rent a booth at a salon but is it possible to just do hair out of my house? where can I get info about this?

my mom was a beautician and started off with a salon at home before she opened up a brick and mortar business.
 
most cities frown upon commercial activity in a residential domain (especially when applying chemicals and using heat appliances). 

you may want to find out what your city's governing rules say about home businesses such as this one.  most likely, you may need a license and some type of permit. every city is different, so inform yourself...good luck!
