QuoteReplyTopic: blond dye darkened hair HELP Posted: November 16 2006 at 4:11pm
Me too! I hated the dark roots that showed up for me every 3 weeks. I would kinda like to add some more red highlights to my hair though.I havent done it yet cuz all the home highlights say to give you blonde highlights, and I dont want blonde highlights,I want red ones.
A long time ago I saw a brand that was specific about being just red highlights and you added a colorant to the mixture...cant find it now. I wonder if I used blonde highlights,if I put red dye over top if that would work?
And you are very right about the Maxi,Blue and summer...I was thinking of Blonde supreme. Maxi definitely works! You just have to tone afterwards.

Yes, it comes in MAXI, BLUE and SUMMER blonde options. They also have excellent frosting and highlighting kits. I have used the frosting kit on my husband who has BLACK hair to give him cool highlights in the summer, but I had to always use the MAXI to get the black hair to turn a super light blonde instead of orangey red. The only thing that ya have to be careful of is to NOT leave it on too long or it can make your hair "gummy".
But Iam SOOO glad to be back to dark brown at this point...blonde is just too hard to keep up the maintenance on these days!

I know what you are talking about Imacy2,and I have used it to. One is Loreal Le Blondeimeses (spelling) and Blonde Supreme. They do work good but depending on how dark the hair is to start with. My hair was pretty dark and the first time I used it it kinda turned my hair a very light red and I had to use it two more times to get the blonde I wanted.
After I got the color I wanted, all I had to do was my roots every month. maybe my hair was just harder to lift,I dont know.

When I was dying my natural brown hair to light blonde, I used a box color....it's in a yellow box and I always used the MAXI one. It worked very well to get the lightest blonde that I wanted. I just can't remember the brand name....but it was less damaging than bleaching.

That is because your hair was NOT lightened enough to get you to a blonde color. You will most likely have to bleach if you want to go blonde. You will see the hair goimg through color changes when the bleach is applied. Once it gets to a yellowish color, then it is light enough to apply the blonde color you want over top. Sorry, but this is the only real way to do it.

ok i know this sounds weird but i bought one of those home color remover kits to lighten my dyed black hair and it worked for the most part the color had a slight red tint to my naturaly light brown hair and i wanted to go to a golden blond since my roots were showing and it was time to dye again but my roots turned the right color and the rest my hair turned medium brown what do i do
