So I love this style, it looks super funky! Waht do you think?
It looks like wefts, right? Because they are quite choppy and chunky.
I love the colours they're about the same as what I have but the blonde is slightly more yellow.
I'm trying to figure out how she managed to get the shorter blonde bits to stick up like that and how they've been placed?
I'm presuming shes used wefts? What else could it be, really? but whenever I've placed shorter layers underneath my top layer of hair like she has it's just stayed flt and thin...can anyone tell me how much blonde would be needed for it, how to cut it or how to position the wefts in order to get that look? Do you think the wefts would be doubled up?
Obviously there's some sort of gel on that as well...does anyone know of a type that will give that effect?
I just thought I'd ask and get any advice I can on this before I start chopping away at hair--just so save my stock!!
Thanks
Jo

Hi. I am no expert here, but what it looks like to me, is that she installed a couple wefts at the bottom of her head. Her hair looks pretty much the way mine does right now. Very choppy, shorter on top, longer on the bottom.
As for the short little blond pieces that stick out a bit, it looks like that is actually her natural hair. So she has a few panels of bleached natural hair, along with the dark brown. From what I see, it looks like her natural hair is about shoulder length.
In order to achieve that textured, piecey look, you need either hair wax or something of the sort. I use Bumble & Bumble's Sumo Tech. Works wonders for textured haircuts. Gives it that very messy, choppy look. Good luck & keep us posted!
Yeah mine's also like that at the moment. (I love the near-mullet style all the "in" crowd have at the moment, glad someone else does too!) This is my most recent pic which is a couple of weeks old. I've replaced a lot of the blonde at the front with brunette. My hair are weft extensions (woven in the back, glued in the front)
Yes I thought it could be her natural hair but looking at the other pictures it doesn't seem to flow totally naturally if you get what I mean......not to mention the colour match would be pretty darn perfect!
Ace, I'll give that a try. Recently I've been using hair fudge which just makes me hair so darn FLUFFY!! I can just poof it up and backcomb it a bit for extra volume and it feels very soft.
Here's some more pics (I feel quite stalkerish now!!)
Sadly, she's now gone black.
Her sister leila also has weft extensions if your curious...
I like it a lot!! So did they just put a few rows in the back and maybe a little on the sides?
I guess you'd need a perfect cut in your own hair to achieve this look.
I think you're very close to that look, Cryption...very nice!
I'd like to try that next time...it's edgy, sexy and funky!
I learn to love and try to understand everyone I meet. I see the rainbow hiding in their eyes.
It sahould be pretty easy; I was juts saying the other day that the
hipster-mullet style always reminds me of half-done extensions!
Basically you'd already need a medium-length shag haircut- then just
put a few rows of weft in the back and maybe one or two all around the
head, over the ears. The rest of it is honestly styling; you need to
backcomb a lot, and then hold with some product- I usually go for
hairspray, myself.
Nikkie- Thankyou! :] Yes I'd definately say it's a very versatile style and it's very funky and outgoing I think it would look amazing on you too. What I like best about it is that it can lie flat and the extensions straightened or if im feeling funky, spike it up a little and create some texture. Bring on the volume!!
zap- yes I thought as much for the top layer......bought lots of new styling tools today to try out to achieve a similar effect! Been meaning to for some time.

Yeah thats me.The first pics arent of me theyre just some girl i know briefly called hollie and the blonde girl is her sister leila. and no, i dont model but thankyou, I'm flattered! :)
That is a cute pic of you! Looks like you almost got the hairstyle down, just need a bit more volume-thats it! Were those pics of those sisters copied and pasted off of myspace? lol. If so, I would like to take a look too. They're hairstyles look really good.
Sumo Tech by Bumble & Bumble works for me. Like glue. Helps to give that messy bed-head look, without the crunchiness you get from gel, mouse or hairspray.
Yeah my fringe is different now it's more like the brunette girls- its more to one side I've been growing it back out cause it got too long and i got it cut a litle too short. Alsi...i didnt put any wax or fudge in for that picture it was a spur of the moment pic cause id just taken my hair out of 2 plaits and i thought it looked cute wavy!
Yeah ive heard of that but I'm in england and it seems so sexpensive! Do you think the wax thats like balm is best for the messy layered look?
Their hair is a bit different now probably. If you want to take a look at their changing hair (they always have amazing hair in my opinion!) check out their photobucket pictures at: http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d55/hiyazhollie/?start=0
Cryption, that *could* be loose extensions too. If they are cut with a razor or "teased" with sharp shears the same effect in the cut can happen. I think weft extensions would not give the style that much of a choppy look at all. You can see the seperation of where the hair is put in, more loose than weft looking to me. In any case, great pics! I love it.
I did something sort of like that, but more 80'sish a while back. Loose extensions just in the back. That's all she wanted.
