Hi could anyone tell me what are the preperations in appling fusion to african american hair should I shampoo with a clarifying shampoo and apply a protein to protect it from the heat ? and what is the up keep on this? Im just starting out as a cosmetologist and was trained on caucasian hair but i know ethnic hair need moisture and balance. Help?
I'm not sure if I can be of a lot of help..but from what I read, via online search, is that prior to fusion on AA hair the hair can not be oiled or oily...So IMO a shampoo, protein treatment followed by a deep conditioning treatment should done/recommended... also a liquid (not creme)leave-in does not hurt, more so as a protectant. As far as the upkeep of fusions I think theres not much difference..the hair can be oiled but not too much and regular maintenance..but do not quote me on that. HTH
BTW: You can also ask the ladies on the extension side as well
