Short hair styling

Well, as you all know, I've had my hair short for ages now.  I'm going to try and grow it a little - mybe down to just above the shoulders.

It's like this now -





It's getting too long for just messing it up with glue and spraying it.  Any cool styles I could try? Side parting/whatever.  I looks weird in a parting though because the front is so much shorter than the rest.....

Any photos/ideas?

Was thinking pixie.  My hair is incredibly thick - I need to get it razored very often.  I hate having hair thats in excess though, like in a bob, so maybe that's out.
