I use quite a low quality hair as I change it a lot and generally only keep in my weave/glued wefts for 2-3 months (when they come very loose) as I'm a student and don't have an awful lot of money to spend.
I live in the UK so hair products are more limited than, for example, America.
I'm looking for some sort of oil or serum which is available and fairly affordable that will bring back the shine and straightness to my hair when it starts to frizz and get scraggly.
I RARELY straighten my hair so there should be very little heat damage to my hair, in theory. It's just that it loses shine after a few weeks and doesn't lie very flat (or straight unless strriaghtened.)
I'm currently using John Freida Frizz Ease products which are quite effective if I use A LOT on my extensions but the effect doesn't last very long and is also about 6GBP (about $12) per 25ml bottle.
crption im in the uk i use toni and guy shine mist from boots. i also use redken glass look smoothing serum. i think it might be quite expensive in the shops tho. i get it cheaper cos im doing beauty therapy at college. but you know how long serum lasts for & i reallylike it for smoothing my own hair into the extensions to get an easy blend and taming the ends of the extension hair.
there is also a serum i used to use. its from boots you can get it as a miniture for about �1.50 its a small pink bottle i thinks it made by charles worthington i was quite impressed with that when i used it before.
however theres only so much serum and product can do if the hair is poor or low quality. you may be better investing in more expensive hair and reusing the wefts for a couple of installs. you can soak the tops of the hair in glue remover so get rid of the excess and reinstall the hair. i have done this a couple of times.
I have a really cute, young male friend who works in Toni & Guy who told me their products never work! He's a very honest kid and I've tried the volumizing spray, the smoothing serum and a few small test bottles of random things by them and I agree to be honest- and it's SO expensive! so think I'll stay clear of that brand for now...
The Redken sounds nice I might give it a whirl.
Ah it is probably about time I invested in some good quality stuff but I'm so worried about getting ripped off to be honest! And I like to mix my colours around a bit......I usually have brunette with one other colour be it caramel, platinum, honey blonde even sometimes blue or pink!
