QuoteReplyTopic: Clip Ins and fine hair Posted: December 29 2006 at 6:32pm
Im having trouble with my clip in extension. My hair is very fine on the sides and the clips slip out. I tried back combing a section and spraying with hairspray but they still slip and they hurt so I know Im not wearing them right.
Those of you that love clip ins, do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks
Em

I have super thin and fine hair and I wear clip ins. I make my parting and spray lightly with Aqua net. Then I tease all along the part line with a fine tooth comb. I spray Aqua net again, and then hit it with the blow dryer to harden the whole hair spray teased area. That usually makes a nice firm base in which to clip in.
Sometimes it hurts on the sides. I just re-tease, re-spray, and reposition the clip.
I have fine/thin hair, too. For me, the type of clips makes a difference in pulling. I ordered mine from www.yourhairshop.com . I've been using the same clips for a year or so. I believe www.shrinkies.net sells the good ones, too(looks that way from the pic on the site). I use large.
I spray my part w/ Aerogel but I don't tease.
Other types of clips I've used (they look a lil different) have slipped and pulled but not the 'good' ones...
My hair is naturally curly-maybe that is why I don't have to tease...?

I have to agree with lucky chick. The clips make a big difference. I
haven't tried the ones from yourhairshop but now I want to. I get the
small ones from a local store. Some days they do annoy me quite
honestly and I'm readjusting all day and swearing at them the whole
time but they never ever slip, ever. I've had clips that do slip. These
won't budge. I also don't tease/spray. Maybe that would help with
comfort?
Have you tried extra rows with thinner wefts? Sometimes the weight of the extensions will make them slip. I used to wear the locking (good clips) A couple of times my hair would get pulled by my shoulder bag type purse and it would yank my hair out at the roots. I wear a sew in weave now.
