I trim my own hair. Since I'm in school, blowing my allowance on a 60 dollar cut is out of the question. I just separate my hair into sections about 6 and put them in ouchless bands ..then on the section I'm about to cut ..I take it down.. part across and then evaluate the ends to see if I need to cut a lot.. if it does then I twist (2 strand) a mini section of hair and clip the ends..looking at the twist itself can also show you if you have severe splits ..and if you see any.. clip those off too! You repeat this all over the head. While this does seem a little non-professional, it has worked for me for almost a year. I'm still learning, but hey..it does clean up those ends. HTH

Oh..and the tools I use for this lengthy project include a pair of goody shears, a good mirror (preferably a cosmetic mirror), hair sectioning clips, ouchless bands, and a WIDE tooth comb. And to prep your hair for trimming, I suggest flat ironing it smooth (its less stress this way)..

Hey MyRonnie, You're right. There's no reason why you should cut if
you don't have any issues with splits or dry/messed up ends. If I
could manage to keep my ends nice and healthy, I wouldn't trim. I'm so
used to i now that it's actually a relief when I do. It's proven that
no one needs to cut their hair in order to grow it long, unless it's
damaged.

Hi.. I just take pieces of my hair and cut the ends straight across. I like for my ends to be neat and straight. Then I just do the same thing all over my head.
Love your imperfections they are what makes you unique.

Essentially, my ideas arrived from the link that was posted. I've been here quite some time so. It's basically cutting straight across but you section off for a more precise cut!
