QuoteReplyTopic: Help Me! My curls are gone! Posted: January 22 2007 at 7:27pm
I need to know what to do! I'm freaking out! I have naturally very curly, very thick hair. I have had four children and with the first three pregnancies it changed a bit but returned to normal after the babies were born. I am terrified to say that after my daughter (3rd) was born, I got my hair chemically straightened. She was only about 2 months old. It didn't take too well so when she was just about a year I did it again. Well, its been four years and I've had another pregnancy in the mean time and my curls are still not back. I'm so sad because my daughter now has my curls and everyone keeps asking me where she got her hair. As I said before, I'm freaking out! I didn't think that a chemical could forever alter your hair! Can it? Is it the pregnancies doing this? Is there anything I can take or do to help? Please help me! All those years of taking my curls for granted!! Shame on me! Amber
There's no need to freak out, a chemical shouldn't permanently alter
your hair (although I'll add that I have no personal experience with
straighteners, I've never heard of a perm or dye doing that). Its
more likely your hair is changing with pregnancy, or maybe even
age. Did any female relatives of yours have hair that
changed? How is it growing, are you gaining any length that you
are sure is new growth to see what its texture is? Sometimes
after pregnancy, hair stalls in its growth for awhile, so maybe it will
grow back curly yet.
