hi ladies im having a problem locking in moisture to my hair(natural) it always seem dry.
i use the s-curl followed by a leavin hair mayo and then oil but my hair looks dull . i dont think that the s-curl is working for me but i will replace it asap.
any sugestions, and techniques? can i use oil sheen to lock in moisture?

Well first off what else are you doing to your hair? How much product do you apply? When do you apply it, in the morning, at night? And lastly is your har damaged from heat, or just having breakage because sometimes that affects how your hair responds.

Hey, just my two cents.. when I was relaxed, I tried to seal with oil sheen and it made my hair really dried out. It's the alcohol I believe. So I'd say ...just use a good oil! And S-Curl doesn't work for me either. It makes my hair so damn greasy and nasty. I hate it! For moisturizer I'd recommend Elasta Mango Butter.. It's great for a lot of woman. When I used it I was relaxed, and it didn't do me much justice. The results may differ for naturals.
i believe i have a few split ends i flat iron yesterdaay the first time after 8 months to see if my hair was growing and it is.
i dont abuse heat from flat irons and dryers and i moisturize in the evening and morning. i apply s curl and leavin and seal w/ oil.

Hi I am not sure what shampoo/conditioner you use but you may need a clarifying shampoo to remove buildup (scurl can leave alot of buildup on the hair) and then a ACV rinse before your deep conditioner. you should notice a big difference after this. HTH

Luvlybelizean i have been having the same problem. The more oils i put, it is just greasy but my hair is dry and the ends are shedding. i don't know what to do with it.
Do you have to use Apple cider vinegar. Or can you use regular white vinegar?
Can someone tell me if this is right?
1st Pre-poo with oils
Then wash with clarifying shampoo.
Rinse with Vinegar, then deep condition w/cap with a heat cap/hood.
Rinse and do a co-wash then detangle, after add leave in
Then oils?
Let air dry

I've never done a ACV. Usually, I whip out the Pantene Daily Clarifier. The stuff WORKS. And it works WELL. Just as long as you use a little TINY bit. No more than a quarter size worth. I'm not a fan of Pantene, but the Clarifier is good. If you use too much..your hair will be drier than a broom. After clarifying use a moisturizing shampoo like Keracare Moisturzing Shampoo. And to Kellie, I think after you apply a leave in con, you should use a good moisturizer, and then seal with oils.

I read that someone had good results with white vinegar but I have only used apple and I love it...just make sure to dillute it with water. I cut down clarifying to 2x a month but after using the clarifiying poo I follow up with a moisturizing shampoo like pickeledg.HTH
I would try switching from s-curl. It contain Gylcerine witch can attact moisture into the hair when the air is moist or humid. But during the winter it can be drying because it draws the dry air into your hair thus drying out your hair. I don't really use moisturisers but in the past I have liked B and B oil moisturizer and Africas best (organics) shea butter and trea tree oil moisturizer.

After a clarifying shampoo I also follow with a moisturizing shampoo cause my hair tends to get really dry. I use doo grow stimulating shampoo as a clarifier. I like the way it makes my scalp feel. Also I have learned how to use natural shea butter as a moisturizer and it works great. After I wash my hair I air dry and keep my ends moisturized with the shea butter in a bun. I wear my hair like this for a couple days then go ahead and flat iron. I don't need to add too much product cause my hair is already moisturized and protected from moisturizing daily with the shea butter. Pretty cool!
