    Posted: June 04 2001 at 12:34pm
I am going to the salon this Thursday and I am thinking about a slight change of hairstyle for the hot summer. Currently my hair is cut in basically a one length bob below my ears with bangs. I am thinking about getting it cut into a wedge style ala Dorothy Hamill in the 70`s. My problem is that I can`t seem to find any good pictures of this style nor anyone who knows how to cut this style. If there is anybody here that can help me it would be greatly appreciated. Also, what do you think of this style and should I go for it if I ever find the pics or instructions to give my stylist?

There is a lot of information here at HairBoutique.com. If you type Dorothy Hamill into the Search Field at the top of every page you will get a list of related articles. You can also read about the guy that actually invented the Wedge at:
http://www.hairboutique.com/books/bookreview094.htm

There are many problems with the Dorothy Hamill wedge. One problem is that the more modern version is a lot less stacked. The other problem is that even though I have talked to many hairstylists, no one now really seems to know how to recreate the exact Dorothy Hamill.

The style is tricky. At any rate, there is a photo of the Wedge that Dorothy wore in the URL I am including.

Best wishes,
Karen

Karen, thanks for the reply and information. Now I am kind of hesitant about asking for this style. Is there anyway for me to tell if my stylist knows how to cut this style? I will show her the pictures and ask her but I don`t want to get butchered. My stylist is great but from what you say she may not know how to cut this style. Should I give it a shot?
