Hello everyone,
My hair has had major problems for years. As a young child, I had really long, healthy, hair. My mother pressed my hair with no problems. Then I got a relaxer. My hair did well for a year then, it started falling out. My doctor said I may have had a reaction to the chemicals over time. I went natural for a year, then I started using a different kind of children's relaxer. Then my hair fell out again. Then I went natural for a few more years until my hair stylist talked me into getting a texturizer, which also made my hair fall out. I haven't had any chemicals in my hair since July, but it still seems to fall out. I can't even grease my scalp because that makes it fall out. I still get it pressed and I know the heat is not good for it, so I get it washed and pressed every two or three weeks.
Do you think I should try getting it washed and pressed every week. I think I may need to get another hair dresser also. I don't know where to begin. Please help!
I think first of all listening to your hair is a MUST. Your post clearly states your hair does not like chemicals, and what your greasing your scalp with, your hair and your scalp sound as if they are very fragile and you are right that all the heat is not good for your hair. You need to find a regimen and products that are individual to your hairs needs like shampoos, conditioners, oils, treatments, styles ect.. and consider taking your hair care into your own hands. There is a wealth of good information on other forums and I have learned sooo much from them over the past few months on how to care for my hair for myself. So good luck and remember to listen to your hair
Hi belle, sorry to hear that your having problems with ur hair...when you say that the hair falls out when u try to grease it is that broken pieces or whole hair with the bulb on the end? If it is broken pieces you may want to use apoghee for damaged hair follow it with the aphogee balance moisture condish and lastly a moistrizing treatment to help stop the breakage. I would advise no heat during this time...weekly light/medium protein treatment, weekly conwashes and protective styling. If the whole strand with the bulb on the end is coming out you'll want to see a doctor. HTH
