I have realaxed hair and I'll be coming out of my braids in mid-March. I haven't had chemicals on my hair and I'm almost 10weeks without having one. I wanted to know if you all thought it would be a good idea to start pressing my hair from now on.

If you are going to do that, I'd suggest that you allow the relaxer to grow out completely first. Pressing your already relaxed hair will cause breakage since pressing is such a heat intense process.

if you are going to do that make sure you are protecting your hair with plenty of deep conditioning treatments and annual protein treatments. But pressing may be to harsh on your fragile relaxed hair. Why don't you try a more gentle way of straightening like roller sets?

I kept my braids in until the relaxer was just centimeters on the end, then i chopped those off. In the meantime, I had braids for two years straight to transition my hair, I retained a lot of length by doing this. Hope it helps.
