About 2 1/2 weeks ago, I dyed my hair chocolate brown w/bright red hightlights. I hated it, so I decided I wanted black on bottom, a platinum blonde  base and the same bright red highlights. The red and black came out ok (black was a little blue but another black over that fixed it) but when the black rinsed out, it turned part of the bleach blonde purple. I re bleached the blonde and red of my hair and redid the red. A day later I realized what I had done and repulsed it. I have put 2 semi perm (6-12 shampoos) in both light brown and dark drown in to tone down the brightness of the blonde and red. It has now turned the blonde green and the red a really nasty dark color. I have been doing SEVERE conditioning treatments since the 2nd time I bleached the hair. I just want it back to a golden medium brown. What needs to be done to have this happen the quickest way possible? I have heard about a product called Colorfix, but how safe is it really and how effective is it? Will I be able to go to a salon after that to achieve the golden med brown color? Is there ANY way not to go to a salon to do this? ANYONE PLEASE HELP!!!!

It seems like you have no choice but to remove the color. Colorfix is safe and not damaging to the hair. I have used it several times with no harmful effects. It basically just brought my hair to a horrendous yellow color(don't panic it is suppose to do that) you can than dye over that to the color you want.

I absouletly will not go to a salon again. I am never happy with the results and after paying a fortune I wind up doing it myself again the next day. With alot of practice and alot of mistakes I usually wind up satisfied. These boards have been a life saver to me and so educational.

Good Luck
Marta

oh my Lord, you and your poor hair!!
everyone will have different advice, but if this were my hair i would:
1. do a protein treatment followed by deep conditioner
2. use the colorfix (from Sally beauty supply)
3. dont be alarmed after you use the colorfix if your   hair is orange (it just means it did get the colors out)
4. use a RED protein filler (from sallys) in with your semi permanent golden medium brown color....(it tells you on the little bottle of filler how much to use)

and keep doing SEVERE conditioning treatments !
i hope that helps, good luck!

Thanks everyone! Well, I spoke to the woman at Sally, and she said I could use the Colorfix, but due to how much was done to my hair, she wouldn't recommend ANY coloring at home anymore. I have a friend of mine who's willing to work with me.
