QuoteReplyTopic: First Highlight Experience - HELP! Posted: February 20 2007 at 8:10pm
My hair was highlighted for the first time 3 days ago at a salon with a very good reputation in the D.C. Metro area. I have very dark brown hair (almost black) and I had three shades of red highlights. I purchased Pureology shampoo/conditioner and waited almost 48 hours to wash my hair. Red dye went all over my shower, the curtain liner, and towels. (I noticed a bit of red on my face towel - must have come off when washing my face.) Being a newbie to the coloring process, I was not expecting this. The Manager of the salon told me this is to be expected with red shades and that it I will see it on my towel every time I wash my hair the first week after coloring. In three days my hair already lost it's vibrancy and it doesn't look like it was highlighted just three days ago, but the salon manager insists this is normal. Is this normal? I'm very angry and believe I have every right to be. Thank you. Irena

I agree with u.I'd be mad.If I were I'd try Artec color Shampoo & cond.It adds color to your hair.Which is cool.Cuz it keeps the red from fading so fast.Plus, it's made for colored & bleached hair. They all kinds of pretty red colors.I use to use Cherry Bark color Artec Shampoo when I had red hair. Now I use Lemon Flower for my blonde. It works wonders. They have it online to order to.Good luck!

So your hair was highlighted, as in bleached? Because if it was LOWlighted, all of this color will most definitely wash out. For it to stick it would have to be bleached or done with high-lift color I believe.

reds fade sooo quickly. It's always a good idea to purchase a color enhancing shampoo if you wanna be red. Redken shades EQ shampoo will help you keep your color intact... they have all kinds of colors to choose from.
