I have one done every three weeks like clockwork.  It hurts the most the first time but then the hair grows in finer and it's not nearly as shocking after that!
You should get a technician that you feel comfortable with and understand that they do this all day, every day so it's not awkward at all.  She will most likely carry on a conversation about your daily life just like your hairstylist would.  In fact, schedule for an eyebrow wax to start off with so you can build a repore with her and then slowly work into the bikini wax.  You could start off with a traditional bikini wax and once you're more confortable move into a Brazillian wax. You might feel somewhat uncomfortable the first time you go in and if you tend to be modest, allert your technician and she can give you a towel to cover.  But after a few times, you'll forget you're naked, spread eagle for God and everyone to seeBig%20smile.
As far as swelling and so forth,I've never had that happen.  The first time you have it done, the follicles may be irritated and you might have some red bumps in the area but that should subside within the first 24 hours.
In regards to ripping the skin off, that can be caused by the wax being too hot for your skin.  If your tech applies the first batch of wax and it feels painful, please allert her that the wax is too hot for you and you should have no problems.

Good luck!

I had it done.  This was not my first time, i have had children too. It hurt yes, was it the worse pain? NO.  But I had an allergic reaction to either the wax, having it done or the aloe on after-and EVERYTHING swelled up I mean EVERY PART around there was BIG and RED and SWOLLEN for up to 2weeks.
dont do everything. do a bikini wax but dont go bare.

I remember reading on another website ( I think it was WebMd.com), this girl said she went to get one done and ended up with a 3" rip on her labia!!! oooooooooooouuuuuuuuuccchhhhh!!!!.

I had always wanted to get one done, but after reading that, I've decided to keep shaving. I use the intuition razor which works great, and use some dove bar deodorant or a good moisturizer right after. No bumps, no irritation and no itching.

I once saw a documentary on how dangerous it is to get this done.  I think its great if you go to the right therapist.  I have worked with loads of beauty therapists who have a set up within salons.  Lots of them go on basic courses...its all about confidence and the amount of time they have been working in the industry.
Be careful is all I can say..and good luck xx

Anyone have experience with a brazilian wax? How badly does it hurt and how awkward is it to have done?
