My name is Karvonnia Dixson. I am 15 years old and I have a problem with my hair. My hair is very thick and it never moves when I do. It just stays in one place the whole time and it sticks out. So how do I achieve bounce and volume to my hair?
Would any of you suggest that I thin it out? I was thinking about getting it done immediately, but I decided to ask you guys first. I wish I had pics for you. I bet it would really help.

                          Thank You

How much products do you use on your hair daily and how do you style after washing? To get swingy hair, you need minimal, lightweight products

i agree with Renee, you might want to look at what type of products you are using in your hair, before getting it thinned out.
A stylist maybe better at advising how you can handle your thickness before putting the razor on it.
when you hair is really thick and it is flat ironed well and the correct products used. you can get bounce that will be the envy, so don't do anything rash before more investigation.

The only product that I do is some kind of grease for the scalp. But the problem is it weighs my hair down. I think that it is a generic kind of brand so I don't know if it is good to use for my hair. I cut my hair recently in order to let it grow out evenly. It had very bad damage.
I use Creme of Nature Shampoo and Infusium 23 leave in Conditioner. I also use calcium wipes after I shampoo my hair. I have only used it ounce, but it made my hair feel soft and it moved when I did!!!Big%20smile
The grease not only weighs my hair down, but it also makes my hair feel very heavy.
I also have very thick hair and I wish I knew my hair type. All I do know is that it is very thick!!
So hopefully that will help with any advice that you all have.
Thank you very much and I hope for more advice to come.Sleepy

I can understand what you are going through. my hair is very thick too and i use CON and Infusium 23 only when my hair is in braids. one thing that i did learn about my hair is that when it was dry and brittle, i thought it was just damaged, i found out i was doing too much protein. now i am learning how to moisturized and strike that balance to soft hair. i just cut my hair, so now I am all natural. i don't know how much products you can afford but sometimes, it is only by trial and error that you find out what's right for your hair. one thing that i use that help with moisture is NTM products. creamy shampoo, conditioner and leave in.

here are some websites that also helped me along the way.

Don't depair, there are alot more threads on this site too that would help. you just gotta read and read and do some research.

Hey Ladies! I just found out that my hair type is in the 4a 4b area. So now that you know, do you any suggestions to what type of products should be used for a girl like me...the ones with the thick and natural hairLOL? But my hair is also relaxed and thick...I found out that that is what 4a 4b type hair is. My hair hasn't really made any progress when it comes to volume and bounce. It only moves in the wind...something that has been drifting down here a lot in good ole' Tennessee.

Thanks for the hair tips Kellie. I am going to try to talk to my hair stylist asap! I hope that you can help me more with my hair. I will try to post pics of my hair and hopefully that will help you to help me. I am only 15 so I am really trying to develop great habits for my hair now for the near future.

Thank You so much!Big%20smile
Smile..even when you don't deserve to.

you dont have to worry about your hair type. You might want to use oils instead of grease. Oh.....you might want to delete your name from your first post.
