I have type 4b hair and I need recommendations for a good leave-in and moisturizer? I've heard about Cantu leave-in, and Africa's Best Organics moisturizers. What are the opinions of this?
I LOVE Cantu leave-in!! Give it a try it did wonders for my hair and I've used if on a lot of people hair since I've bought it and they've all fallen in love with it...
I have tried Cantu Products, but they tend to be a little heavy on the hair. I like the Shea Butter Hair Spray, I have several of their products. They smell wonderful, but can't be overused, it will weigh the hair down.
I find that generally, the drug store brand shampoos are not the best. They have alot of alcohol and chemicals in them and strip the hair. This would include Garnier Fructis, Pantene, Flex, Clairol, Finness, Head & Shoulders, definitely stay away from Suave, very damaging, L'oreal, Aussie, Tresseme, Herbal Essence, etc. Also many of the ethnic shampoos aren't any better. Motions, Isoplus, Softsheen, Optimum, Isoplus,
All Ways, African Royale, African Pride, Elasta QP IC, etc.
Many of them nay be cheap in price, but you will pay in the long run with damaged, unmanageable hair. Some of these brands have good ingredients, but not enough of it in the product. That's what keeps the price so low. Also, they add harsh chemicals with the small amount of the good ingredient. I know because over the years, I tried many of them.
If you're going to use a shampoo, I would recommend the Professional salon quality shampoos which would include, Nexxus, Redken, Paul Mitchell, Matrix, Aveda, & Sebastian.
I tend to lean toward the natural products. Jason products are great and so are Giovanni products.
What I use is so good, I had forgotten all about it. I was introduced to the Nature's Gate line years ago by a friend who worked at a Natural Foods warehouse. Their products are herbal based. I use the Rainwater Herbal Shampoo, (which was just reformulated, has more herbs in it now)
the Herbal Conditioner, and for deep conditioning, the Herbal Hydrating Hair Masque with Replenix. They have a big line of products, you can find the one you like best. My hair is soooo soft, shiny, and managable. Has so much body. I let a friend try it, and she like it so much, she asked me to pick her up some. I told her to just keep the bottles I lent her. It smells absolutely wonderful, if I had time, I'd do my hair every day. I hate to do my hair, but these products make you want to do it because it's easier to handle.
Many health food stores carry the line such as Whole Foods. I found a website that carries just about the entire line of Nature's Gate products. They even make products for babies and other things like toothpaste and body lotion, fragrance. I ordered a shaving product Organic Creamy Shaving Gel for my husband becaue he has sensitive skin, and many of the shaving products irritate his skin. Their shaving gel is formulated with alot of herbs and moisturizers. I would recommend this line to anyone. If you want to check it out you can order from:
Yes, Nature's Gate is very affordable, that's what's even better about it. For the results it gives, I think it should cost more. Thank God it doesn't. I don't know so much about curly hair, my daughter's hair is curly/wavy. It works wonders for her hair. I know what ever type you use, it will give your hair softness, shine, manageability. Check out the website and see which formula you think you may like best. They have some herbal based, some new lines that are plant and fruit based. I'm sure you will like them.
