Okay.  So I finally did it.  I botched a dye job.

I had burgendy hair.  The dye was in it for six weeks.  I decided I wanted to go lighter.  I now have orange hair after bleaching it.  I tried putting a golden blonde dye on top and it didn't take.

Somebody please give me advice.

k. well i do know that when you bleach hair it turns many different colors. orange is one of these colors. it could be that you need to rebleach to get to a yellow and then do a dye or toner on top of that.

I'm no expert, and I go to a salon, so please get more advice either here or from a professional before you make a move!! I just wanted to let you know that you may not have botched it and what happened is normal!

I have the same problem and that is what I'm going to do - rebleach the roots to pale yellow and then tone with a semi permanent color - but I'm doing a strand test on the color before I put it on.

The hair turns orange, because you had previouse colour on your hair, as bleach removes the hairs natural hair pigments, and its had to do double the work. You can apply beach againuntil you get a yellow tone then apply an ash tone or violet/blue tone to cancel out any unwanted tones.

Thanks - I went back to the hairdresser today and she took it upon herself to put brown in - what a mess ... I was so upset ... it's because of her I'm in this mess - living in rural VT the hairdressers are limited and I can't find anyone that knows anything about color - she dyes my hair this terrible color and has her cousin sit there and tell me how nice it looks - it looks like a skunk!!! I'm washing it with Dawn dish liquid - I need a good hairdresser!!!! help !!!!
