i have had simalar results from bleaching my hair for a period of years, i once had wavey loose curls and no frizz and now i have almost no curl and lots of fizz but in the long run that does alot of damage and i highly do not recommend bleaching

not true either you risk damaged ends= lots of trims,more fizz( any humity is the devil) and the up keep is alot more involed them people first think=$$
have you tried a good quality anti frizz/ smoothing serum? i am sure there are more options then bleaching your hair

you might go to a salon (or if you know someone that can get the professional stuff) and get redken shots. there are four or so of them, one being defrizzing. it worked great on my damaged fuzzy hair. good luck.

Please dont bleach your hair to try straighten it, it wont work, it will only cause you hair more damage and become more frizzy. I would get some advice from a salon. Have you heard of getting your hair chemicaily straightened, this can only be done by a professtional hairstylist.

I've tried oiling and some other sorts of treatment to an extent, I'm sure, and perhaps should keep going at it.
Generally though, I blame my genes: my mother has very wavy and poofy hair and my father has an afro (even though he's white!!!). That simply doesn't leave my hair with many options, now does it?
So I'm searching for ways to tone my hair down with conditioners and the like and bleaching seems like an amiable choice. I'd rank my hair color level somewhere between light brown and medium brown, so the process shouldn't be too damaging, provided I do it right.
Hey dante, although I don't have any hard facts on the subject, I do think bleaching can straighten hair. I have one friend who has naturally bleached (by sun and chlorine) hair, and her topmost layer of hair, which is the lightest and most damaged is almost straight, while the underneath layers are nearly curly. I've noticed that on many people with wavy/curly hair the canopy, which is usually the most damaged, is straighter than the underneath layers. I also know that when wavy/curly gets healthier, it curls more.
So my educated guess on the subject would by that since bleaching damages the hair, it alos inadvertantly straightens it some.
I don't know if I would use that soley as a means to control your frizz though, because I think it would have more negative effects on your hair than positives. Such as breakage, brittleness, etc. Have you tried oiling your hair to help with the frizz?
Even though I found this insight on the matter, I have a friend who used to have really curled up and frizzy hair and when he bleached his hair, it seemed to become more straight-like: the curls were largely detangled and the hair seemed to grow closer to the head (less frizz).
Of course, bleaching won't make my hair straight straight per se, but it seems like it might make it more managable. You see, my hair grows "horizontally positively," meaning, it's not all that curly, but nevertheless super frizzy and it won't submit to any combs.
