Hello all! I was just curious about the preferred hairbrushes of the group. I`m in the process of buying a new one and not sure what to get. Money is the main problem but I`m willing to make a small sacrifice if I need to (after my loan check arrives).

A wish is a desire without any attempt to attain its end.
I am wild about the Battalia 860 brush. It was designed to be good for medium to long hair. The individual spokes or bristles of the brush don`t have the knobs at the ends and are seamless so they won`t rip or tear.
I also love Mason Pearson boar`s head brushes but they are really expensive. They are the best in terms of quality and durability but still pricey. Also, right now Mason Pearson which is manufactured in England is having labor issues and the price on the brushes has gone up as a result and the brushes are harder to get on a reliable basis.
Ambassador & Cricket both make good boar`s head brushes at a much reduced price. You can find Ambassador at some large health food stores & at HairBoutique.com. Cricket can be found on the Net and at some larger beauty supply stores like Ulta and CosmeticsPlus.
Conair has some good brushes that are boar`s head and does not have the knobs on the end. You can buy the Conair at Walgreens but remember not to buy a brush with little hard knobs on the tips or they can rip and tear delicate hair.
A brush doesn`t necessarily have to be boar`s head to be good. It can be synthetic like the Battalia. The key is to make sure the brush bristles or spokes are not going to rip or tear your hair.
Goody and Scrunchie will occasionally have good "hair friendly" brushes but you have to take your time and look at each brush on a case by case basis. These are both available at large grocery stores, Walgreens & Eckards.
Hope that helped.
Best wishes, Karen
