I'm 26&my hair is kind of thick and has a nice texture. It's length is just above my bra strap on my back but it dont seem to grow much. It seems as if it grows then everytime i get my ends cut it grows back to that length then time to cute ends again and so on. how can i get my hair to grow longer or is it done? also I can never hold any body in my hair. the only time it does is when i go get it done then maybe for about 1 1/2 weeks it'll hold the body but after that its over. i wrap my hair at night and it is always just straight, holds no curls no body no nothing. what can i do when i wash my hair and do it myself?

What are protective styles? never heard that name before. But I wash and condition every week. i dont rollerset unless I go to the salon, most of the time when i try to do it after i wash my hair it don't turn out right.
Protective Styles are styles that keep your hair up off of your shoulders. They are meant to protect the ends of your hair because rubbing against your shirt and back day in and day out can lead to stress on those ends. Protective styles help grow the hair out faster with less damage.
The most basic style is a simple bun. Rollersets are protective styles as well because they greatly reduce manipulation from combing/heat. Most protective styles are airdried styles. Braidouts, rodsets, twistouts, clipped up styles... those are all protective. I have a protective styling album in my hair album with some examples.
