Cut flatters skin tone?

I read an article at mochasofa.ca that claimed people with oval faces should choose a cut that "flatters their skin tone". How does this work? Or should it have read "color" instead?

It sure sounds like they meant to say "color". A cut can certainly flatter an oval face but not the skin tone. Must be a typo.
