Confused

I've heard this years ago that if you put your hair up while it is wet that you could develop mold?

Is this true?  I wait until my hair is dry to put it up because of hearing that, but don't know if it's really true or not?

Anyone know?  That's all I need is fungus.......gross

While it may be possible, (I don;t know for sure myself) I know of many people who do it and don't seem to have a problem.

My hair is so thick that is the only way I can put it up. Even if it's dry, I spritz it until it's pretty wet before putting it in any updo. Also, I've washed my hair at night and pulled it into a pony tail to sleep for about 20 years. No mold here!

I don't know about this.... I guess I might happen to someone, somewhere, but I have put my a hair up wet for years.Mabye if you already have the start of an infection , putting it up wet might make it worse?

I remember years ago when my sisters hair was very long she would always put it when not completely dry.  Once I noticed when she took it down it didn't smell that good.  But she was doing that for years.

Wow, that dosen't sound very good. I have thankfully never had anything like that happen, and I have put my hair up pretty wet since as long as I can remember.

It probably didn't smell too good when it was first put up, either.  Wet hair tends to be that way, for some reason.  Doesn't smell good when wet, but does when dry.

I've never actually heard of anybody ever getting mold or fungus from putting up wet hair.  It sounds to me like an "old wives tale."  If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it.

wow! you slept for 20 years?! (jk... sorry, I couldn't resist LOL)

I'm like you, I almost never put my hair up dry.  I need the extra grip that a little water provides, and also the bulk reduction. lol  I never put it up completely wet (fresh out of the shower) because it's too heavy and gives me an instant headache.  But dry enough to not drip, yeah no problem.
