hi there......i was rereading claudes notes on haircoloring....and he was pretty much implying that you could lift tint with tint.....i had it happen to me...i was able to lift 3 shades lighter the second time i recolored....the first time i put the different dye on it almost went to the target color and then the second time it went to the color....it matched the hair swatch....is it true that you can do this...i know it happened to me but has anyone else experienced this?  did i experience something freaky?Confused

I think it's possible, but the color will be unpredictable.  Also, it's more damaging to the hair to go this route, dye and redye, than it would be to just bleach and then tone.

well, i am just going to put it down to good luck.....and not ever count on that....it is more damaging than bleach?  i waited like 6 weeks before i recolored but i know well what dye can do as i am sitting here with my hair 6 inches shorter than i like to have my hair...thanks for responding....i have wondered about this for a long time now.  have a good day rebekah.....did your hair turn out like you wanted with the highlights?  i sure hope it did.....talk to you later rebekah!Tongue

Yes, my highlights turned out fine.  The base color that I used worked very well.  I actually like my base color so much that I rarely highlight my hair anymore.  Just a bit in the summer.  Here's a link to the pic after the base color.

Sorry to hear about the loss of six inches but rest assured that your hair will grow back again.
