QuoteReplyTopic: Having to wear a hairnet..... Posted: February 22 2002 at 9:27pm
At the age of 44, I am about to get only my second perm ever. (My first perm, I left the salon looking like a poodle!) Because of work and having to wear a hairnet, my hair stays flat all the time, with a wide horrid part in the middle from having been there for years. I have to admit that I am very nervous, mostly because I am not sure what kind of style I should be looking for. There`s lots of great looking styles I have seen in the books, but not many show faces with glasses. Being short, heavy-set with a round face, I want to look my best. My hair is one length, just past my shoulders with waaaaay too much red (after home coloring) Finally after all these years of taking care of everyone else, I want to take care of myself and look nice! Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

Ok, if your hair is one lenghth to your shoulders the weight of this will pull the fullness flat on top. So if you want your hair very long you shold have layers. I agree if you have a round face you can give length to it by adding fullness on top.But you need a good cut as well as a body perm, if you don`t put some shape into it l could end up fullness on the sides, what you don`t want. Talk to the hair professioal most hairstyists love to talk about hair go in and talk to a few before you do anything. Its a big step.

I think this site has a hairdo finder and you can actually specify face shape and length of hair.
Good luck with your perm but beware. If your hair is colored, the perm will strip most, if not all, of your color out. It is also sort of dangerous to color and perm both (my hairdresser won`t give me a perm because I highlight). Hopefully you have a great hairdresser who will go over all the pros and cons and give you a great look. Have fun.
