I have been looking into getting hair extensions and this site seems to be a fountain of good advice and knowledge! I will try not to rant to much but basically about 6 weeks ago I had the worst hair experience ever!! I was asked if I minded a new person doing my hair, said no thats fine I went for my appointment at 1030am and was still there at 5pm I went from mid lenghth blonde to a so called bob with black and orange colour I only wanted my highlights doing!! they then offered to put some extensions in, they braided them in and I had to have them out 3 or 4 days later due to my scalp getting sores on them. now $300 later in correction colour etc I still cant do anything with my hair so driving my partner mad he said he will help pay for my extenions, So what is the best method? do you still need to go to hairdressers while they are in, Ive talked to a few salons and so.cap seems to be popular...and when they give you a price what are the extras you will need, like do you need special shampoo regular visits to the hairdressers while they are in etc....Im sorry for the long winded post, but I have just passed my esthetician course and dont want to go to interviews looking like this! thanks for any help and advice

Cinderella hair is good. It is 100% human hair. It is bonded to tge the hair with an organic bond. It safe for the hair and salp. You do have to use certain shampoo which should be offered to you with the service and they last 3 to 6 mths.
I have heard so cap is good . But if you have damage to your hair from all the color A fusion method probably would not be good for you as it will probably cause more damage. You could try micro link method..it is a strand my strand method that clamps on to the hair, and you can reuse the hair. You probably had sores from all the coloring done to your hair. Every one on here does the skin weft with a tape, that seems like the least damaging way in my book.
Currant method Hair locs.

http://www.glamourhair.com/extensions/Seamless.asp Sasha, this might be a good system for you. It's really easy to apply too. I would never go to an extensionist who says you can wear them for six months.

Thanks for the advice, its good to get some honest opinions, I got it down to two salons one offered so cap they said about 6 -8 months and cinderella they said 4 months, although that link you sent me looked good just not sure Im confident to do it myself!
NO extensions should be in without proper maintance for longer then 2 months!
the stylist who did your hair is reponsible to make sure you are happy with your hair, not make it a color correction and then charge you, go see the owner and tell then the situation. hopefully if it is a good salon they will take care of you-

Yeah I agree, NEVER wear extensions for longer then 3 months and dont go to any stylist who suggests you can wear them for any longer, you will find that between 8-12 weeks the new growth will start to matt above the bonds, watch out for this and as soon as it starts happening its time to get them out!
It is reccommended to use specalist aftercare products, the salon should be able to provide you with these.
Its also a good idea to visit the salon every 4-6 weeks and get them to check over your extensions to make sure everything is ok, at this point if you feel you need it you may want some extra hair added to keep the extensions looking fresh.
Make sure you keep us informed on what you decide on, and post some pictures of your new hair.

Just wondering if people who have extenions think its worth the money? Usually if ive had a bad cut ive just dealt with it, but this cut is so bad, my hair is fine with a curl and she cut it really short at the back and left it longer at the from but then razored it (think thats what they call it!) so its just whispy and fine at the front and it stays straight for all of 5 mins, I cant put it up and my hat collection is now at a all time high! even the other half says he doesnt like it and he never ever comments on my hair! Ive spent so much money and just dont want to spend a load more and it go wrong!! Ps thanks for the help Ive just moved to the states from the uk and not got many girly friends and men just dont understand!

Yeah it would help if you were able to post a pic so we can give you some further advice.
Depending on your current hairstyle it may be better if you were to go to a salon to get them professionally fitted, if your hair is quite short and layered it can be really difficult to blend and you really need a skilled extensionist - make sure you are able to see a portflio of the stylists cliens before you spend your hard earned money.
Where abouts did you live in the UK?

Well still searching for the lead, but I went yesterday to a couple of salons to get consultations, one stood out from the others as she went thro everything with me, she said because my hair is fine she will split the bonds, she explained they may be uncomfortable for a day or so while I get use to them, I would get a follow up appointment and a kit shampoo, conditioner, and brush...and this was all included in the price. Some of the other quoted me a price and then said appointments and shampoos would be extra, so ended up being well over a $1000. She said that blending would not be a problem. She said about 4 months maximum where as the other salons said 6 - 8 months. I have just been reading the post with the bad install with so.caps, sounds horrible situation, I once put a dispute on the card and they were really good, stopped any interest etc untill resolved so hope that works for them. So if it does go wrong and they start falling out how can you prove its not you doing something wrong?
