Brigid (Below) On First Day Of Donna Bella
Fusion Install Before Adding 20 Extra Strands & HairCut
Brigid On Second Day Of Install (In Black) After Adding 20 Extra Strands & HairCut
Brigid On Sixth Day Of Install (In White To Right) After 14 Strands Fell Out Of Original Install & Have Been Replaced (on 2nd Day & 6th Day).
Notice how after 6 days of wearing that the edges are a little rougher and the hair has lost the initial brilliant shine and fluffiness.
Billy reported that he noticed the hair seemed to tangle more easily than after the initial install. Brigid said that when she gets out of the shower it tangles much more than her own hair.
I have passed all suggestions on aftercare to Brigid and she will implement those suggestions including using recommended products.
Billy also noticed that some of the hair easily slides out with gently pulled. Which might explain the hair that fell out so far. Billy believes that that strands needed more glue when they were pre-tipped.
Billy reapplied the first 4 strands that fell on the 2nd day and the 10 strands that fell out on the weekend today, which is the 6th day of the install.
Brigid still loves the length and the feel but we are certainly all learning a lot about fusion here at HB.com.
I hate to say it but there isn't any product that will bring the hair back to what it was. That hair really did not hold up well at all. Have you contacted the company? My guess is the reason it's not clean on the ends like it was the first day is because some of them are slipping down and the hair just isn't silky anymore.
You can put serum on it and go through it with a flat iron. This will help for half a day.

Yup, a flat iron would help that little blending bit in the back too. Tho I don't think the hair looks aweful, just a little less shiny, maybe it's the flash on the camera?

Hi Brigid - we almost have the same name! The color of the hair in the second picture looks a lot lighter, imo, what kind of shampoo are you using? did you dye the extensions before the install?
Bella Donna "Infusion" - what's up with "infusion"... is it any different from "fusion"
edited to say, maybe in the back you should take out some of the blonde and add some darker extensions to help with the color blending - and flat iron... - I love the length!

Hi Asinnamon.....the photo was taken right after she flat ironed. Maybe she needs to use a hotter iron? Or iron smaller sections? Or it could be the camera. I hadn't thought of that one.

Hi Bridget,
My apologies...infusion...fat fingers on my part. Should have been install.
So sorry.
I told Brigid she needs to come to the forum to post. Billy, Angie and Carrie do but Brigid isn't much for forums. But she may show up.

Thanks Malibu. Yes...I agree with the thought about the hair slipping.
No...we did not contact the company.
I will pass the idea of the serum with the flat iron. She did flat iron but I am thinking maybe not long enough, not in small enough sections or make the iron was not hot enough?
Brigid still loves the extensions regardless of the change in the silkiness. She loves the length. She certainly enjoys this much more than clip-ins. Yes, the hair is not as nice as the first day of install but she still loves it.
I will be curious to see how long this install will last. We were all hoping at least 6 weeks but I guess time will time.

It's also good to wash the hair before you install it. Typically it will get more puffy than what it is out of the package. Also that will give you a good idea of how much hair to install.

She may need to run the flat iron through a little slower and on a higher setting because her natural hair is not straight either. What brand of flat irons she using?
First off, I still think the install looks beautifuld, and I am so glad to hear she is enjoying the hair!! :) The length and color looks wonderful on her.
If she flat ironed her own hair just a little bit more, it would blend a bit better in the back. I agree that perhaps a few rows/bonds a little higher in the back may help with the blending, too. Otherwise, I really think it looks great!
Its sad to hear the condition of the hair is already failing. After washing, a cold water rinse can help seal the cuticle, reducing puff and snags. She can load it with 'cones (silicone shine serums or sprays) and certainly the flat ironing- though that will in itself speed up the damage to the extensions and her own hair. Smoothing a bit of Shea butter (pure, without mineral oil) or Coconut oil on the extensions hair will help also, if she does not want to use silicones.
oh*so*sassy: I am alittle bit confused, are you saying that using shine serum and than flat ironing your hair will speed up the damage to the extension hair? Should you flat iron without these products and just use shea butter or coconut oil to flat iron or is that just to condition the hair? Should you use these on wet or dry hair?(shea butter & coconut oil)
I know alot of dumb questions, but not for me. Just trying to understand all of this stuff and sometimes it all gets mighty confusing for me.

GREAT install. A few comments.
I've NEVER had extension hair that didn't become a bit rougher and less shiny after washing, except for European hair. (True European hair) You've probably noticed that over the years we've devoted a LOT of time and attention to the issue of needing to treat extension hair like spun gold, which certainly means using good products (there are hundreds of posts on which shampoos and conditioners and serums are the best), perhaps shampooing less frequently, etc. These are just some of the rules of the road with extensions. IMO.
Regarding the amount of glue on each extension. I just did a full head using Donna Bella pretipped hair, and other hair that I pretipped myself using the Donna Bella chips.
The Donna Bella tips are a funny animal. I think there's actually *too much* glue on each of the tips (which is common on pretipped hair; many times it needs to be cut down before installing. In fact cutting the tips IN HALF often works the best). I have a very hot iron, but the glue on the pretips never quite melts fully and thus I don't think quite melts all the way into the natural hair. The tips need to be heated and I think rolled with kind of a lot of pressure sometimes to really get them to adhere to the natural hair. Sometimes I can feel that I've rolled the tip and it's hard but it hasn't adhered to my hair because it wasn't hot enough because of the thickness of the tip. I hope that makes sense. All I know is that when I pretipped the hair myself, I cut the chips in HALF and used a HALF size for each pretip and those were MUCH easier to work with and I've had NO slippage with them at all.
I know that it's really important on an install to make sure that prior to installation, the hair is washed well and has no conditioner on it. Further you usually need to wait like 48 hours before washing. These factors can contribute to the bonds slipping as well. I don't always adhere do these rules (big surprise) but with the Donna Bella chips I haven't had any slipping or loss at all.
Thanks for the great post and pics! And welcome Brigid to the world of extension addiction!!

I see why my wording may have been a little confusing. To avoid hijacking this thread, I placed my answer to this question under the topic/thread that you started titled: flat ironing
I never did get a chance to say that I loved this install. it is so pretty and it blends so well. I think it still looks great even in the sixth day pics. I love the color I think hair that is like sandy blonde with hints of bright blonde is so pretty. You all did a really good job with this install. Keep doing the reviews they are really helpful.
