I just received my new hand tied bohyme hair from hair sisters, and it is the softest silkiest hair I have felt. I cannot wait to put it in, but I am afraid to cut it into individual wefts. I don't want to mess it up. The only hair I have ever used was from Sally. It was Sassy brand and course; I have fine hair, however, people always said that they thought t was mine.
I am so excited!!!!!!!
Also, props to Sherry. I bought some products from this site and she gave me 2 extra syringes for my LG. Freebies are ab fab!! Thanks Also, she ships lightening fast

Wait- if they are hand-tied wefts, you probably should not cut them. You can fold them over to fit rather than cut, or seal the wefts well. But if they are hand-tied, without being sealed they will unravel. I am glad to hear you are so pleased with the hair- Bohyme is very nice hair. Enjoy!
Oh and with hand tied wefts, just curious, when you do cut them how would you seal them? I'd be a bit paranoid to snip, and probably rub some LG on where I was going to cut, and then re-seal after cutting. Would that be a pointless step? I haven't bought any yet, so I'm not sure how they look, but I would be afraid of it instantly unraveling right after cutting without a little glue to hold things together. (This is the main reason I haven't bothered with hand-tied yet.)
First of all: Hair Sisters is a reliable store, yes. The times I have ordered from them I have always had good service. About the hand-tied wefts: I really never suggest that anyone cut them. Some people will use a weft sealant, such as this: http://hairextensions101.com/main/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=154&category_id=13&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=26 That particular sealant does work well, but you may still have some shedding. Also- it is hard to re0use hand-tied wefts once you have cut them, even if you seal them. They will typically unravel over time if you cut them. Instead, you can also just fold the weft instead of cutting. If you need a section that is 5" in width, for example, you can just fold the hand-tied weft in half, and it will measure approx. 5 or 5.5 inches. Hand-tied wefts are great, and very comfortable to wear. I advise against cutting them, but it you want to, you probably should us a sealant. As for how to seal them- I only seal after I cut them. Like I said, I do still notice shedding and some unraveling, but it is not nearly as bad as it would be had I not sealed. I think you could seal after cutting or also beofre and then after cutting- either way. Maybe it would help to seal both before and after cutting...
I am positive you can cut the handtied wefts. I do that on every installs, cut the wefts as many times as I want, no problem of unravelling at all.
The only thing you need to do is to put a few drops of a very tough glue like crazy glue or Loctite on the two ends, wait a minutes for it to dry, and you're good.
You don't have to use a wefts sealant on top of it, but it's always better. I use a weft sealant for the weft not to shed though, so it's for a different issue.
I have been cutting and wearing handtied bohyme wefts for the past 8 months now. Trust me you can cut them!

In my experience, I think it's dependent on the handtied weft..
I have some hand tied wefts that will fall apart instantly if I cut them.. Even sealing these particular handtied wefts will not stop them from falling apart when cut. Sealing will only slow the shedding down.. On the other hand I have other handtied wefts which IMO are more like micro machine wefts. I have cut these handtied wefts with no problem whatsoever. (no shedding) I was even able to reuse these handtied wefts for a few installs.. In fact they are still in my stash of hair to use..
I think one would have to have some experience with different weft types. Most newbies don't know how to spot the difference in weft construction to know which type of handtied weft they had.. So for newbies to extensions and wefted hair, I would say that not cutting the wefts is a good idea as a general practice. Experienced hair wearers know the difference and can tell which wefts are safe to cut and which ones are not..

I think Nicole uses Bohyme handtied, which I am very familiar with. Maybe if you use other kinds of handtied wefts of other brands, it is not recommended to do so.
But for Bohyme handtied, no problems, I do it all the time!

I am glad it works for you to cut the Bohyme.
One of the very first times I did an install with hand-tied wefts, a few years ago, I used Bohyme. I cut the wefts and they shed/unravelled terribly. I learned my lesson.
Really?! Did you put a few drops of crazy glue on both ends though?
My bohyme handtied would sure unravel if I wasn't putting a few drops of glue on the ends. It is an important step.
I use a glue called Loctite, like crazy glue actually. It dries very fast, and then there is no problem.
Cool- Thanks for the suggested product, Frenchie. I'll try it out on a section when I do a hand-tied install next. That sounds much easier than sealing the whole weft, and if it works, then that'd be great!
The first time that I am talking about-- no, I was a newbie to hand-tied wefts then and I did not seal them or put any glue on the ends. I did not now what I was doing yet.
I installed my hair this weekend.
Ok. Why do you use the tape method with the LG? Does it hold better? I just used the LG and two days later, I am noticing parts lifting. I shampooed twice and did not condition before my install, yet today I had my wefts no longer attached at the front. There is also a place in the back where it has lifted. I am so frustrated because the hair is so great and the LG is not holding.
I read just about every DIY on this board with the tape and LG, but opted to forgo the tape because I didn't know why people chose to use it, and now I am kicking myself because I think I messed up. I want my extensions to last awhile and not constantly have to fix them. Grrrrrr.
Now what??
The hair looks great except it needs to be cut. It is too long and I tried to trim it and ended up butchering a small piece on the side, so I stopped. The texture of the hair is so great, but to look its best, I need a good razor blending.
It is so funny...I teach HS English, and I knew I was doing a new install this weekend, so I cut my last extensions into a medium length bob. The kids asked if I cut my hair, and I said that I did, but it would be longer Monday. They looked puzzled because only some know I have extensions; they all would know but since they are HS kids, they don't listen to the pearls of wisdom flowing from the front of the room. So when I came in today and had long hair, a girl remarked...hey you do have long hair again. I smiled and said...yes. The others were oblivious.
I love my job
