Topic: What Does Russian Hair REALLY Cost? Posted: October 17 2007 at 9:29pm
I had Hairlocs installed 2 1/2 weeks ago and paid $578.00 for 16" extentions that were colored and matched to my hair texture. The hair is actually loser than my own curl which I like. Anyway, did I get ripped? I'm thinking (and I don't know why) but that this is Indian hair?
Please let me know your thoughts.......

If I have said it once - I will say it again - people please dont just look and NOT respond. If you have the answer or "think" you do - please post. I see so many people on these forums that post needing help and nobody answers them. (I'm sure that hurts. I just seem to PUSH it) What ever you have to offer is always appreciated - no matter what it is!!!
Isn't that what this is for? Or maybe a CHAT room setting would work???

Your questions are too vague to be answered.

angsaff, you need to give it a chance. Not everyone who views these threads are 'posters'. Alot of viewers are lurkers, guests or simply people who may not have the answers. I see very few threads that go without responses here, and most posts will get answers/replies but not always immediately. Be patient my dear...
as for myself...I have no experience with hairlocs personally, but the price seems quite good considering its a branded method. Ive seen much higher prices.

Poo - My hair is naturally Very Curly. Not thick but curly and some what thin. Nonetheless, I'm dealing with a bird's nest as I have all my life. All I want to know is what does Russian Hair really cost? My stylist matched the color and texature but I don't know that this is RUSSIAN hair as I was told. It is very thick and tangles after only 2 weeks of install. I'm wondering if this is really RUSSIAN for the over $500 I paid for??

Angsaff, she matched your curl somewhat and said it was Russian hair? Typically they would try to match a curly texture with Indian hair (I know, I know you have fine hair BUT so do I and Indian hair will match curly hair fineorcoarse better than Russian hair). I've seen coarse Indian hair and fine Indian hair.
That's a good price for hairlocs but not a good price if you're having all this drama.

Ang- are you happy with the install overall? I got hairlocs recently too and hate them. the hair is crappy and doesn't match my own and the metal pokes my head and feels heavy. I guess not all methods work for everyone.
Usually Indian hair is a better match for curly hair then Russian hair. Also hairlocs hair is not known for being good quality hair. Maybe she did the hairlocs method but used some other hair. How many strands did she install in your hair?

I had Hairlocs and was not happy with them. The hair was Indian as far as I know and not very good quality. I am uncertain if you can ask for another hair type to be used with that system.
The virgin, non coated Russian hair is quite expensive as far as I can find on the net but I have only bought from one vendor so far. I paid $545 for 3 oz of dark brown, bone straight hair. The hair is of fabulous quality and Im still wearing it and on my second install. That price included wefting (3 wefts) and one of the wefts was custom in length which added a little on the price. Either way, its not cheap and I would guess some of the more expensive hair on the market currently. It is worth every penny but I caution you that it is very fine, soft hair so if your natural hair has wave or curl or you wouldn't classify it as soft or fine, then Indian would probably work better for you. There are excellent Indian hair vendors out there.
What you received was most likely NOT Russian hair. Russian hair is expensive. High demand and low supply, and usually a high quality and ideal texture for many Caucasian fine hair textures. Russian can be found in most natural, fine texture- but will cost you usually at least $600 + for a full install for JUST the hair- not the cost of the install itself, which would be additional. With the tangling and such that you are reporting, you probably did not receive a very high quality of hair for your install, unfortunately.

Main advantages of natural Slavic hair:
Softness, shiny, healthy and natural look
Ease hair styling
Does not require special care (also, regardless of hair structure it can be but into an arbitrary shape without much effort).Slavic hair can be subjected to coloring, highlighting, and whitening perm.
Do not lose their form after shampooing
Can withstand up to 6 corrections.
Such hair is really expensive.
Perhaps you bought a Chinese hair
We collect our virgin hair directly only from the Ukraine and Russia! It is the best handpicked hair.
