If your hair is past your shoulders, it`s very easy to cut your hair yourself. Just divide your hair in to 2 ponytails and bring it to the front where you can see it, then cut off what you want. Just be very carefull not to get too carried away though. I did it like this for a few years until it got really long. Unfortunately I got carried away one day and cut it very short, so my cutting days are on hold for a while.

Your hair will take eons to grow if you trim it every
two months. Trim it if it`s damaged. A month, two
months, three months, half a year, a year, means
nothing in itself.

You can have your hair trimmed monthly, if you so wish. However, remember that every month your hair grows roughly, half an inch. So, if you was to go to a salon every month to have it trimmed, you`ll either:

a) Lose the half an inch you`ve grown
b) Lose more than half an inch, and you`ll be back at square one.

My advice would be (if you`re contemplating growing your hair), to have it cut every 2 months. Least then you`ll only have half an inche taken off the whole inch grown. :>

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Long healthy shiny hair is for the most part genetics... hairs grow from the scalp so trims have no effect on growth. Trim do make to look better as they do with any style.

I disagree with the advice of monthly trims. Not
the advice per se but rather that that is a bit too
frequent for long hair, that you can end up with
too much cut off and that that risk should be
minimized. IF you have split ends, THEN you go
for a trim (and once the hair grows past the
length you want of course). You can always look
through your hair and cut separate ends youself,
thus cutting only those ends that are damaged.
If there are not too many at least.

the whole purpose of getting monthly trims is to eliminate split ends;
getting montly trims does not speed up your hair growth it just helps to maintain your hair in good condtition to help it continue to grown in a long and healthy process

Hello, I saw two people that I hadn`t seen in months. One of used to work at the same place I
do and the other one is my dentist`s secretary. When I saw them I was stunned to see how long
and beautiful their hair was. It looked so shiny, healthy and long. I asked each of them
how they grew their hair this way. I remember seeing their hair a little past their shoulders.
Each of them told me that they get monthly trims (just a little bit of hair).
Do any of you also trim your hair on a monthly basis? Have you seen this help your
hair?

Please let me know.

Thank you,
Martha
