QuoteReplyTopic: Troubles with pomade Posted: November 10 2007 at 3:03am
Ok guys I am new to this pomade stuff. I want to know is it normal for my hair to become curlier because of using it? When I temporary got off of Murray's, my hair was really curly (in a bad way). It took a wolfing session to get back to my previous texture. I have been using Murray's original. I don't have a problem with laying my hair down, but I use it to keep my hair in place since I wear hats with my uniforms. Has anybody else had this problem or have tips to fix this problem (without buying more products). Don’t say keep brushing, but I bet somebody is going to say it regardless. Also I just put some Murray's in my hair tonight after going four weeks without.

The reason that your hair curls up when you apply pomade is because your waves are lifting up. As you know, a wave is a laid down curl. When you apply pomade to your hair, especially when wolfin, you must brush for a sufficient amount of time and then put on a durag and/or
wave cap(s). This allows the pomade to set and maximizes hold.

The pomade has to "cure" under pressure/compression to help prevent curling.
