Well, I've worn my hair short and layered for few yrs. I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow, and I've decided to let the layers grow out and keep the bangs. Probably grow it shoulder length. I feel I need to keep the bangs, I have thick hair.

Oh yeah, I don't like the heavy/blunt bangs either. I watch Cold Case and the girl on the show wears them and I'm thinking the whole time "Trim your bangs!!!" lol

I got my hair cut, and I like it. She took an inch off the back and just snipped the ends of the layers and gave me thin bangs. She also snipped off some hair strands for me to test dye (I'm doing myself in few days) .
One of the girls that worked there has inverted bob haircut and the girl that cuts my hair has long hair and she told me she's getting a inverted bob haircut later that day. So, yeah that is popular!!!

Right now I'm growing out my short layered hair. Maybe to shoulder length. Just not sure of the outcome I want. The last time I had longer hair I had it layered from chin down. Are layers still in style or straight across?
Thanks for any advice!

Both layers and blunt cuts are still in style, it really depends on the shape of your face, the type of hair you have and the style you want to achieve. It's had to say what would look better on you with out seeing a picture of you. If you don't want to post a picture, send me a pvt message and i will give you my e-mail so you can send a picture there if you want.
At the end of the day pick a style you are happy with and not what's just in fashion. As a good hairstyle on someone who looks unhappy is no where near as attractive to an average hairstyle on someone who does.
Cheers

I saw your picture and think one length would suit you the best. I would say go for a style like the last picture i posted. This allows you to loose quite a few of the layers and become more one length. Somewhere between the bottom of your ear to chin. Once most of the layer have gone you can then grow out the length to however long you like.
Good luck and let me know what you decide to do.
All the best
