so back in feb i had the bright idea to go blonde... my natural hair is curly and dark brown... well my hair got so damaged that i ended up dying it back to dk brown and have been tryint to grow it out since... before dying it it was up to the middke of my back and now its only about 2inches passed my shoulders. i ended up having my stylist freak out on me for letting my friend in beauty school do such a horrific and damaging thing to my hair with bleach and he had to cut so much of it off... it was like crunchy pieces of hay. well now its november and im suffering with this hair. ive been ironing it to keep it looking pretty but i know its inhibiting my hair growth by creating more damage but i cant help it. if i try to leave it curly the last 2 inches on my hair just look like straight while the rest of my hair is curly. i dont know what to do!!! i want to stop ironin it but i cannot leave it natural and down... i look like a FREAK!!! please please please help!!!

What about leaving it curly, and just the pieces that are straight, you curl those? that way you arent damaging your whole head of hair.

Dont let the stylist make you feel bad.Condition well and get little trims here and there and your hair will feel better sooner or later.

Have you tried a hair smoothing serum like FRIZZ EASE or BedHEAD AFTER PARTY? They really do alot to add that needed gloss to dry damaged hair.

Do treatments and leave them in overnight. Do them as often as you can, and invest in a really good product, they're more often than not worth the money. Also hydrating shampoo, and only wash the roots.

I've had to give up blowdrying and straightening since lightening my hair, and have been babying it nonstop. It's definitely getting healthier. On bad hair days just chuck or pin your hair up. Experiment with different up-dos to find something you like.

Best of luck with it.

You can still blowdry if you use a IONIC blowdryer. They cut back on frizz and hair looks/feels much healthier then with a regular blowdryer.

Also, maybe some protein treatments. They helps reconstruct  the hair.

Ionic hair dryers are much better, I agree, but mainly becuase they make the hair appear healthier, they will still damage your hair. I avoid heat like the plague!

I did too when I had blonde hair.
Now I mostly let it air dry, then do a quick blow dry for about 5  minutes on a low heat setting with an ionic blowdryer.Works pretty good.
I have to blowdry though,it is just too cold here right now not to.If I didnt and I went outside my hair would freeze into icicles!Shocked

^Understandable. It's summer here in Australia so wet hair is refreshing!

i think you're going to have to cut way, way down on heat styling - no more ironing!! that's one of the most damaging ways to style your hair.

however, if you want the straight look, there are ways to achieve it without heat styling. the first thing i'd try would be washing your hair in the evening, putting on a straightening balm and letting it air dry about halfway, then putting the crown in velcro rollers (leave the bottom in a loose braid or bun). invest in a satiny pillowcase as well.

You can also clip the ends as your hair dries naturally with big butterfly clips, for certain textures that can weigh it down enough to take out the wave.

While you're experimenting with other styles, deep condition twice a week. Get a quality conditioner, and leave it on with a heating cap or warm towel for half an hour, rinse with cold water. This will help your hair absorb more nutrients and smoothe the cuticle. Good luck!

I know! I used to be a straightening junkie, it was almost addictive, I did it almost everyday. And I honestly didn't think I was doing that damage (because it was a ceramic iron). Sigh.
