it's the environment thing... this happens at gatherings all the time. 

if you're around a bunch of people that you know, you're gonna most likely act a fool because you're comfortable with everyone there.  but if you're at a gathering and you don't know a single person.  you're gonna be more calm and careful about what you say because subconsciously, you don't wanna give the people there the wrong impression about you
