Hi everyone. I have a big problem
After a very disasterous session as a cosmetology school model, I ended up being left with no choice but to dye my formerly blonde hair jet black. Not a big deal. The problem is that the black dye that they used ended up turning my hair midnight blue. Believe it or not, this is actually better than it was before, but it's still REALLY not working for me.
I'm trying to warm it up with no success. I tried a warm black kit from the grocery store and it did absolutely nothing. I tried dish soap and laundry detergent. A lot of blue came out, but there's still a ton in there. The orange permanent dye I tried helped some, but the blue just won't go away. The biggest thing here is that I work in a relatively conservative office enviornment and I can't go to work with blue hair. My boss will kill me. Then fire me. Then my husband will kill me. I'm calling in sick to work tomorrow, but that only lasts so long.
At this point, my hair is extremely porous and dry, although not falling out or breaking yet (it's been tinted 6 times and bleached twice in the past 48 hours.) My scalp is so irritated and painful that I don't even think I should be washing it for a long time. I also don't think it could stand bleaching or stripping without doing some potentially fatal damage. I've been using mud masks, reconstructors and hair oils and they seem to be making my hair look decent, but it's still extremely unhealthy.
I don't have any idea what to do. I was thinking that something like Manic Panic might do something for me, but... other than that, I'm out of ideas. If anyone here has any advice, I'm all ears.

Before I read that your hair was so damaged, I was going to recommend a colour stripping product, but this would be too dangerous.
Unfortunately, doing anything could result in further damage, I would do lots and lots of treatments and let your hair rest. Anti-dandruff shampoos strip colour from hair, and are fairly gentle on your hair and sculp. Could be something to try in the meantime.
When you feel like it's in decent condition, you could try a colour stripping product. And don't let anyone dye it again! lol
Thanks for your response! Unfortunately, I seem to be in one of those impossible situations where nothing is going to work very well.
My hair's not destroyed to a point that it's breaking or gummy, but it's still pretty dry and damaged. I may be able to stand a color stripper long enough to get it up one level and then tint from there with deposit only color. That'll probably be the end for my hair, but I guess it's better than getting fired.
Thanks for the help. And no, I'll never be serving as an exam model ever again. I guess this is why the student who did my hair couldn't find a model, LOL.
Update: ColorFix is taking out the blue pigment and I've only had the stuff in for 3 minutes.
There's hope yet...
Another update: It's not great, but it's not blue. The stripper worked, but the color grabbed way too much. I had it in for 10 minutes and it went from medium brown to black. I match my dog! I have a feeling it'll fade and it's natural enough that I can go to work without getting fired.
YAY for Color fix! Seriously, you'd think that after everything that's been done to my hair, it'd be falling out. Not so. In fact, it feels pretty okay.
