has anyone tried the split ender be the people who made the revo styler round brush? the split ender is a brush thing that you run along the hair and just cuts the split ends, like doing a dusting, without the hard work. the guy that invented it has long hair, but its kinda in a mullet style and it looks thin, but maybe thats just how his hair is. does this thing sound to good to be true? heres the link- www.splitender.com

That looks pretty scary to me! There's something fake about all of the testimonal pictures - they are too uniform...something. And the inventor used to be in a rockband and didn't know that chlorox was bad for his hair? I wouldn't use one of these gadgets. My hair is worth the time and effort I spend doing search and destroy.

i don't think his hair looks like a mullet and thin is this just me? i wish someone else knew about this product i'm so obesessed with all my little split ends. i try to go through my hair the best i can but it is so hard to get all of them. i know this is going to sound very ridiulous, the other day i found a split end i went all over the house looking for our hair scissors to cut it out. having the strand in my hand while looking for the darn scissors. finally i found the hair scissors and i lost the hair! i just wanted to seat and cry. why is everything to good to be true?
Don't be too hard on yourself. I'm sure you do a great job and keep the splits to a minimum. That's better than I've been doing lately.
I haven't seen this product advertised but I'm very skeptical. Does the machine have the ability to analyze the end of each strand and make the proper judgment call on whether or not the strand is split? Somehow I just don't believe their claim, though I do admire their attempt to address the issue, which could also be seen as a sign of respect to the numbers of people who are interested in zapping split ends.

I checked out the website and my sister and I are so intrigued we're gonna buy it and give it a try. It has a money-back guarantee, so what do we have to lose? It's kinda pricey-about $70, but if it can cut every hair on your head only 1/8 of an inch it would pay for itself after one or two uses. Currently I pay my stylist $40 for a trim--and she's accurate, but not to the point of cutting only 1/8" off each hair. And trying to dust my split ends is way too time consuming! I'll keep everyone posted on whether or not it works.

Since we're talking about Hair Gadgets, I've seen the ad for this on TV. The Revo Styler. http://www.igia-rollo-style-hair-styler.com/ It supposed to make your hair very soft and nice and all of that. I've seen it on TV and I am just a bit intrigued about it. I can't hardly use a round brush without it getting tangled in my hair!!! They had a woman on there with hair standing up ALL over the place and after about 10 min, her hair was all "soft and managable" again. So what do you all think of that?? Laine
My friend bought the revo styler. I tried it out on my hair and it just make it in a tangled mess not to mention staticy! I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
so... has anyone tried this product yet? Not saying the spilt ender is the way to go for trims, but it seems like alot of people here and Dave Decker are against any type of cut or trims, just wondering why? I understand this is a long hair support group, thats why I'm here. Wouldn't you rather support growing healthy hair too though? The growing hair long articles on this site by Karen Shelton recommend getting trims when needed to keep hair healthy. Conditioners and oils only seal the split ends for awhile. Just curious.

There is a small goup of people here (myself included) who are in the no-cut camp. Dave is a supporter but not a fellow no-cutter. I believe the majority of posters here do trim off their split-ends, at the very minimum.

Yes of course. However, it depends on what you mean by healthy. I take the best care of my hair that I am able. Maybe some hair will split as it gets longer. I think that hair that has a blunt end by being previously cut is more likely to split than hair that has never been cut and has a finely pointed end. I have observed this in the few people I have met with very long hair, and through anecdotal information from others. So, if I trim a half inch of the ends of my hair to keep it “healthy”, I will not only take off split ends, but may create a situation that encourages more hair to split in future. I could selectively trim the splits if/when they occur, but I will not be happy doing so, anymore than I would be having laser treatment to eliminate facial wrinkles. I am aiming for maximum length, healthy hair. Cutting is not healthy for my goals!!

If at all. The main purpose of these product would be to moisturize/protect hair and prevent splits and other damage.
I haven't tried the split ender, but it sounds neat to me. I have millions of slit ends, my hair is just too long to cut them all off! I think I'll try it.
Hi this is a cool place. I bought the split ender but I'm still waiting for it to arrive, I hope it works; I am waaay too cheap to pay a stylist to trim-I just do it myself so I guess my hair needs a lot of help. I will try to get back to let you know if it worked! PS I like the princess icons- I want to be a princess too!

Thank you Uzma, interesting observation about cut ends and splitting! I have never heard this before, and I will need to think about it some, but it seems sensible. I have not cut anything but split ends for two years, and have lately been thinking of a bit of a trim, just because I have not done it for so long, I guess, and because it´s what one "should do". But honestly, I like the way it looks, all the way down. And I like the way it behaves when I bun it as well.
I keep learning something everytime I visit this sight!

Hello Sue Thomas! When you can, let us know how it works for you.
I saw the infomercial for this product a few times. I also am eager to hear how it works! (but not brave enough to buy it myself; I cannot imagine that it works as good as they say...) Please post any review people. Thanks!
BR, Endlessnight

I only trim my hair because I'm growing out my layers. I cut about 1cm a month off, and will do so for about 20 more months. I do it myself, and have never gone to a hairdresser. I did the layers myself, and have done for about three years. I just got bored of them and decided that I wanted to do plaits that weren't furry. No-one has ever said that my hair looked home-done, and they haven't believed me when I've told them the truth. I don't see how any machine or random contraption can do a better job than my own judgement and steady hand. Anyone agree?
Are you keeping your hair at its present length, or are you trying to grow it longer? Because if you're trimming 1cm per month, you're probably trimming off just about all that grows...
I completely agree with you about the value of judgment in split-end removal. While the split-ender tool may be a step in the "right" direction, until such a device has a means of evaluating which ends are split and which are not, and cuts only those that are split, the tool probably won't be helpful to someone trying to grow their hair longer.
I just saw the infomercial last night, and immediately remembered this topic on the board. There is a portion of the infomercial where the internal mechanism of the Split-Ender is explained. To me, it just seemed like a razor that would remove the ends of the hair. It does not distinguish between a split-end or a regular end, so it's really dusting the ends.
Another thing I noticed during the infomercial is that all the hair on the models after using the Split-Ender was flat on their head and thinner. It's definitely not a look I'd like. Part of having healthy hair is the volume.
I think the last time I got a trim/cut was a few months ago, to make my layers more even. But since my ends are healthy, I'm hoping to maximize time in between trims.

I'm growing out layers, so by cutting off new growth I can keep the length and lose the layers (slowly). Once it's even at the ends I'll let it grow some more. The layers are driving me nuts because I end up with furry plaits.
