I've read alot about dying your hair while pregnant but hardly anything on bleaching it... as it goes dying your hair while pregnant hasn't been proven to have any affects on the developing child, most women wait until they are past their first trimester to do so.
So far I haven't read too much on bleaching your hair... some unqulified people think that's a no-no but I haven't read anything on any medical advice sites.

I am pregnant again! yay for me! And I'm going to post a terrible awful hidieous picture of my hair right now. I love the color but look at those roots! I am going to go in and get the hair lifted by a professional (to save me from the fumes at home in a windowless bathroom..) but I was wondering is there actually differnt kinds of bleaches and does one do more harm than the other?

Celberities bleach their hair while pregnant: Gwen Stefeni, Britney Spears ( I don't think `Nicole Richie did...) and their kids seem fine... well Gwens boy is...anyways could any of you give me some advice?

If I go in to a salon can I ask for a specific bleach or something???
I dyed my hair twice when I was pregnant with my first son and he turned out fine, but I was totally worried about him! ANyways any advice would be wonderful> I don't think I could live 9 months with these roots... and they are just going to get worse!!! Would Lowlights perhaps been an OPTION? SEMI perm ones that is??? I do not want it darker, i will not go back to being dark..... i love the color I've been wearing and won't go back!!!!

Well I'll take a stab at it...Personally I wouldn't bleach if you can help it...Even though the babies seem normal, you never know.  Although I can't imagine how bleaching would cause the baby any problems.  I know alcohol causes damage, but that is ingested.  Ultimately it's up to you and your doctor.  I'd ask your doctor for an opinion.  Good luck and I hope this helps.

Congratulations!

There's no medical evidence to suggest that bleaching/dying hair has any effect on an unborn child.

Think of it this way, bleach is a chemical that goes on your skin. So is shampoo and conditioner and treatments and hair products, and moisturizer and fake tan and makeup. We live in a chemical world.

Just don't smoke or drink! lol

It's completely up to you and it's every mother's own decision.

Bleach is bleach, though. There's no different types (except for different products) but the core bleach all works the same.

I'm so happy for you!

Thank you slipknotartgir: I am 9 weeks right now. I'm going to wait till I'm 4 months along before I bleach it. I am going to a salon to minimize the risk a little more....  I am also going to ask my doctor. Did you have trouble finding a salon who will do it?

I actually don't go to Salons.I do my own hair.I have been to a Salon once when I was prego & they sucked.I had to bleach my hair myself for it to look good. This was when I went blonde.I'm red now.I'd ask a Doc about bleaching just to make sure it's ok.I asked a Doc. before I colored my hair & they said it was ok,but still u wanna make sure it's ok.Good luck, hun! :)

We absorb so many chemicals that you pretty much want to try to limit as many as you possibly can. But my roots are just getting soo bad, it looks TERRIBLE,  Thank you Rebeckah for the site, that helped tons and lifted a whole off my shoulders. I will wait till I'm four months to do my hair. I'm thinking of doing a light brown or dark blonde underneath my hair and keep the top light... that way I sitll keep my blonde hair but don't need to bother with underneath. Thanks again! I only have a month to go before I can dye... yay!
