Where are you purchasing it from? **note to stay away from that vendor**
The shea butter I have has a smoky roasted peanut smell. From what I
understand shae butter SHOULD NOT stink (ie smell like 3 day old coochie.)
However, I have made whipped shea butter.
8 oz of shae butter
2 teaspoons of oils (jojoba, coconut, mango or avacado--you decide)
1/4 teaspoon vitamin E
5 drops of essential oil (you can add more)
Heat shae butter in microwave to liquid. Add 2 tsp of oil, 1/3 tsp of vitamin oil, and essential oil. Whip mixture with an electric beater for 3-5 minutes. Then place mixture in freezer for 5 minutes. Repeat whipping/freezing until you have the desired consistency.
I have purchased my shea butter from numerious places. I've ordered it online, gotten it from the African Market and other places.
I have a sensitive nose, so maybe what people are calling the "natural" scent is stronger to me. Last year I didn't even bother buying it, recently I got some more and the smell just isn't working for me.
I'll try your recipe, if it doesn't work for me then I'll try to purchase some pre-scented shea butter.

Lol unfortunately shea butter doesn't have the best smell wouldn't compare it to coochie though lol but the only thing that has helped me is to layer it between other products, use it for my ends only or skin, and use just a little bit of it HTH
Cmesweet--- Okay, thanks for the sensitive nose clarification
because I was like where in the heck is she purchasing her shea butter
and what are they doing to it before sending it out.
mbell825- It comes out "whipped" soft and creamy like. Well, that's how I like it. As for vitamin E, I use the capsules (it's cheaper & only form that I can find here). It take more work. I basically prick the capsule with a safety pin and squeeze it into the mixture. I just eyeball how much I want to put in the mixture. You use more or less as you please. Also, the Vitamin E in the bottle is fine if that's what you have.
I make a small batch because I've made bigger batches and not use it quickly, the shae butter stays whipped but the oils seem to go to the bottom.

I know, that's why I had to clarify. Well I plan on using this up cause I don't want it no more.
