what size microlink should I buy for hairloc tipped hair for most snug hold? What size extenshell?  Thx

The size of the loc depends on how big the hair tip is.  For most standard tips, I find that locs that are 2 to 2.5 mm give a nice tight fit.

there are a few different kinds to get-
extenshells are like hairlocs cylinders or
the ones without the flare i call tubes. they are a real tight fit and they hold up very well.
also the paint doesnt come off for a long time.

I think the protubes are aluminum, aren't they and not copper?  I think that is why the paint doesn't chip as fast. 
 
You might also want to try a loc with the size of 2.75mm.   That size is also good.  Thinking about it now, I think that is the size I use most often.

You may want to ask for samples of the loc size and see how your pretipped hair fits before you buy a bunch.
