Aight, my first post was about 2 weeks ago (http://talk.hairboutique.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=60958). I'm here to give ya'll an update.
I have taken the advice people suggested. Used mostly a softy... last couple of days have had to switch to a medium brush to pull the hair better (used a hard brush and it seemed to be too much... my waves almost disappeared (back and sides)!!!). Here are some pics... sorry for the blur, not da best with da camera:
Its been almost 5 weeks since my last cut. My hair is much longer than I usually keep it but I am afraid to get any type of cut and lose the little progress I've made. Pomade, durag, and medium brush seem to keep my hair in line so far, but do you think I should keep wolfin' till my hair looks like a birds nest?
Also, like I said before the hard brush seems to make my waves disappear... does this mean I can probably wolf a lot longer since the brush is straightening my hair out too much right now / will continue to work for a few more weeks? Should I be focusing on connections right now, or just trying to make the waves deep cleaning up in later wolf seasons? Any other feedback welcome.

keep on brushing fam brush the rotation of hard, medium, then soft. I say trim what you have now and then continue where you left off. Cop some CC (Carrot Cream) and leave the rest to brushing.
