Hi ladies,

Was wondering if anyone's had success with the skin/seamless wefts. If so, what are the advantages and disadvantages?

My thinking was that if they were more undetectable than plain old wefts, I could use them on the top of my head only, and then just use the regular machine-wefts on the rest of my head....

It doesn't seem like Bohyme has this product, so has anyone used the silky straight ones from:

What's slightly annoying is that it appears with most of these, you have to buy all the pre-cut wefts as a "system" rather than one big long weft....

Thoughts? xoxox

hello, i haven“t actually worn skin wefts but i am planning on doing that soon. I will order them from China www.wigsandclosures.com. I have heard that they have great hair and good prices and you get one 90 cm wide skin weft piece not many small ones.....Good luck:)

I recently purchased some.
Probably too good to be true, they claim to be color #60 in 22 inch Remy.
I will post pics when they arrive.

I have used the seamless wefts a lot and I like them.  I apply them with the 'sandwich' method and use the proflex tape and an adhesive like Liquid Gold for for a longer lasting hold.

I have tried all sorts of vendors and my personal favorite is the New Concepts seamless.  The hair quality is decent and the density per weft is good.

Glamour hair sells the 'ultra tress' that Onrite makes and I feel the hair is not great quality and they has less density then the New Concepts ones.  They are too sparse.

I used the ones from Hairpiece only once and I wasn't too impressed.  It was very coated with the silicone stuff right out of the package, and usually that's a sign it's not the best quality if they have to coat it with all that slimy stuff.

I'm not sure if the seamless that Super Hair Factory sells is from New Concepts or not.  I know the prices that SHF has listed are cheaper than what I have to pay if I order the seamless direct from New Concepts.  If I can remember, NC charges around $200 for 60'" of 18" hair and about $240 for 22" hair.

Hey Jenny! In my opinion, skin wefts are a great way to go for the crown/top of head if you want an undetectable look.

There are a few places I have bought them from, but mostly from China. Holly from wigsandclosures.com makes really great quality skin wefts in light colours. They are very affordable, but take at least four weeks to receive (she custom makes them). You can e-mail her for a price list.

Also, type in 'skin weft' on Ebay and you will find a few choices there. I think I ordered from a guy named Mike from supersalon or something like that. You can't miss him as it's only him and another lady from the U.S. that seem to have them for sale. I was skeptical of ordering from Mike as they are pretty cheap (about $50 incl. shipping). they are really good! I ordered #613 and was really surprised by the quality -- Asian hair.

In terms of advantages/disadvantages: I find installing skin wefts very easy. I sandwich them on either side of my own hair at the very top and they hold for four weeks no problem. they would probably hold longer, but I like to do my roots at four weeks! Removing is also very easy. A little 99% alcohol or Goo Gone and they come right out --- just peel the tape off and re-use. I can see that all the packs I have bought will last for quite awhile, because I can re-use them for quite a few installs.

The only thing I worry about with skin wefts is using acetone with them. I think it's OK, but have never fully tried to take them out with acetone. Also, you have to be careful on how you install them. They do not 'bend' like machine/hand-tied wefts. The plastic/skin prevents them from forming 'around' your head, so you need to apply them straight across. It can be easier to just cut them in like, 2 inch pieces and apply them that way.

OK, I've written a thesis once again! LOL HTH!
Love clip-ins and tape!

I have removed the skin wefts with acetone, it's not a problem because you aren't soaking them in it .

I agree with the skin part wanting to buckle when it's wrapped around the head.  Unlike a machine or hand tied weft that conforms nicely  to the shape of your head, the skin wefts buckle and stick out when you try to take a larger width and get it to go around your head.

Skin wefts work best cut into smaller pieces.  I usually like to work with pieces that are 1.5-2" wide and do a brick layer technique.

If someone where going to put wefts on their own head, I think using tape and machine or hand tied is easier, since in 2-4 rows you have your complete look.  I think I have to brick layer a lot more rows of skin wefts (since they are not double or triple wefted like most of us do our machince wefts).

However, it's nice and flat.  It's worth a try for any hair extension junkie to see which way you  prefer!
