i bought some hair sticks a couple weeks ago. today i used them in a bun. they look really cute. anyway i had to use a couple bobby pins with them or it will not hold good. does anyone else have to use a couple bobby pins too? also someone posted a web site with different hair sticks but i can't find the post. does anyone know the web site i'm talking about?
I can get hair sticks to hold my hair most of the time. It really depends more on the quality of the bun than anything. I have a hard time doing a good bun.
Anyway, assuming you got one... Find where your ponytail ends. Put the first stick here, so the end of your tail will be secured and not flop out the side. Point the stick directly towards your head, and stick it in the bun about 1/4 of an inch from the outer edge. Push the stick in a little bit, 'til you've grabbed a bit of hair. I'm not sure just how far. NOW lift so it's alongside your head. It'll feel much tighter now. Keep pushing the stick in, now being sure to catch the hair touching your head. Actually scrape your scalp with the stick. Now try to angle to stick up so it comes out in the middle of the bun.
That's how I do it. I imagine if you have thick hair, you might have to do it another way. Which I could give you pictures! They have to be on the web somewhere.
The second stick, BTW, is mainly for decoration. But I put it in in a similar manner.
