QuoteReplyTopic: Frosty Ash 12A Posted: August 16 2008 at 6:12pm
I recently got this from Wella. My hair is light ash brown and ashier highlights. What would happen if I put this Frosty Ash on? Would it make it more ashy? Should I add some more streaks and put it on? Would it turn a nice silver? Thanks in advance.
Maybe. That would be hard to predict, especially not know exactly what color your highlights are, and exactly what that product is or what base is in it. If it lifts at all, chances are good that you will probably get orange on your brown hair and maybe white on your highlights,(depending on whether they are yellow or not. Likely more orange on those if they are dark blonde or darker). I'd suggest doing a test strand on both a brown piece and a highlighted piece so you know for sure.

Bebe: be careful. 12A is a highlift to be used with double 40 vol. If you use it that way, it will definitely lift your light ash brown hair with golden or orange tones. Your highlights will likely turn ashy/grey. I would try a strand test on your dark hair and see if it brings it up to a nice level first. Then select out your highlights (wrap them in foil/conditioner) and apply the 12A.
