I have light brown hair.  from years of coloring my hair red (all shades) and purple, I have lots of gold tones in my hair.  when I pile my hair on top of my head it is SO noticeable it's annoying

I don't want to color my hair since I haven't had color on it in almost three years

my sister-in-law suggested I use a color shampoo by Loreal.  it's for blondes to get rid of the gold tones in hair
I have been using it for almost two weeks.  I haven't noticed much of a difference in my color.  should I keep using the shampoo and be patient or just color my hair with a light brown ash color?

You can use a semi light ash brown to cancel out the warm tones. I take it you are using the purple/violet shampoo, stop it wont make much of a difference. Semi are very gentle on the hair, the ash will just cancel out warm tone already in your hair.

thanks.  I did think about doing a semi.  I was hesitant about the shampoo (sorry, you are correct, it is the violet shampoo)

I will do the semi next week.  I wonder what my sister is doing next week.........??????????

IA with Karen. Just want to note that there are some colour-depositing conditioners (eg. Artec) that act like semis. They come in browns and if you left it on your hair for about 1/2 an hour, it would be a conditioning treatment as well as a toner for your hair. It's an easier alternative if you don't want to go with chemicals!
Love clip-ins and tape!

well I bought a light ash brown semi (it took three bottles to cover my head - glad I stopped getting it done at a salon, paying for the applications is rough on the wallet)
my hair turned out a bit darker then I was thinking.  I do like the color and so does my husband
I may try an ash for dark blonde next time and see if it comes out a bit lighter

your colour will fade slightly after a few washes so dont worry about that, but glad it all worked outThumbs%20Up
